although no fault of the hotel, i didnt enjoy my stay here as it was a work trip and it was just too hot to be on the island itself and to be stuck in the meeting shed. to top it off the abundance of flies didnt help. the traditionally designed houses was not my cup of tea either. bluntly put if you dont mind walking few metres to get to the shared bathroom/toilets, dont mind to be in total darkness after midnight as lights go out then, and dont mind sharing rooms with 2 or 3 other people, this place is for you. it is not ideal for an office retreat. the food was delicious.

Room Tip: since the resort is set up like a fijian village, noise from your neighbouring rooms/houses can be a...

Bula and thank you for your review. I would however like to point out a few inconsistencies. Although you mentioned the flies on the island you did not give us credit for not having any mosquitos on the island. The Conference room is not a shed as you put it but a traditionally built Bure made from locally sourced building materials using traditional craftsmen. The fact you were sharing your Bure with 2 to 3 others was a choice of the organisation you work for and not forced upon you by management as your review appears to say. Although you praised the food, it is a shame you did not enjoy your overall stay. It is however pleasing to note that your fellow workmates have continued to visit the island regularly since your office retreat. Vinaka

We stayed recently at Leleuvia and loved it. The island was absolutely beautiful, crystal waters, white sandy beach, lovely. There are many wonderful non-motorized recreational activities such as paddle boarding, outrigger canoeing, kayaking and motor boats to go fishing or diving, or day trips to Levuka and other islands. There is also a fish and reef conservation program set up by management which is most commendable.

This is a backpackers-type eco-resort where you share all toilets and bathrooms so if you need to go in the middle of the night regularly better ask for a bure not to far from the bathroom block (like bures 5-10 but further away is nice and quiet). Showers are cold but you need cold water when it's so hot and the toilet block is very clean. Given the price I think it's good for a 2-3 night stay as the bures and dorm rooms aren't serviced during your stay (saves water- good!) so unless you want to sleep in sand and dead moths for too long or are a beachcomber (yes there's a broom but that only goes so far) then limit your stay to a few nights and you'll love it. Bures are right on the beach- gorgeous- and have ceiling fans (air con so NOT needed). Bring a torch for when the generator is turned off at midnight, there is also a battery powered night light in your room. Parents, bring some hand sanitizer or wipes so you don't need to look for a faraway tap. There aren't any mosquitoes which is a great bonus and flies seem to appear and disappear depending on the weather.

The food at the restaurant is very good, especially the Saturday night lovo buffet- divine. Breakfast is basic but lots of pineapple, pawpaw and banana. Order a cocktail made with their ginger beer- yum but ask specifically what the "happy hour" drink prices are. An hour of kids activities can be organized if you inquire so if you need time out and have your children doing something fun, let management know. Same with kids movies on some evenings though they could use a board announcing these things and times in the restaurant. There is an activity board for other things at the dive shop. Might be nice to add a morning or evening island walk to the program. On water issues- there are jelly fish and sea lice on some days so watch out. The pain isn't unbearable but stay away from any blue jelly fish, if you have any allergies it could be a problem. But the water is so beautiful, snorkelling near the jetty just great, no sea lice could keep you from it. There is also an art gallery above the restaurant, do check it out and free wifi in parts of the restaurant and area near the shop.

The staff are wonderful especially Leeann, Colin and Milika. You can ask them about anything and there's a relaxed, fun, friendly but organized atmosphere.

Lunch on the final day if you're leaving on the afternoon boat is not included and is FJ$30 so take note. We stayed at quite a few hotels and resorts in Fiji on this trip and Leleuvia Island was our favourite for sure. We would most definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a bure right on the beach and nearer to the bathroom block if you need or further away for q...

Sublime holiday

We recently stayed at Leleuvia with family and friends for 3 nights. We have stayed in many other places in Fiji, but this island is truly unique and special. It’s hard to put into words, but here are some reasons why: laid back and oh so relaxed, beautifully pristine and unspoiled environment, eco-friendly, warm, professional & authentic staff, non-touristy, delicious food summoned by conch shell, clean rooms/Fijian style bures, fun activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, outrigging, fishing, paddle boarding and excursions to other islands, no shoes required. Vinaka Colin & Lee-Anne, managers of the island.

We came to the University of South Pacific in Suva for a conference but were most excited about spending our leisure time at Leleuvia. People from the university highly recommended this island resort as the place to simply relax and enjoy time being in a simple paradise. We couldn't agree more! Extremely friendly and helpful staff to whom you could always approach for any help or simply talk. The home-cooked food was excellent; we never knew exactly what we were going to enjoy for dinner. Beautiful beaches with close reefs accessible for those with only snorkels or full SCUBA gear. We will definitely return when we get the chance to come back to Fiji.

Room Tip: It was nice to have the last bure (Walu #16) in the line of bures. Very quiet but generally the whol...

This was my second stay at Leleuvia and once again loved it!!! The staff are very friendly, accommodating & excellent with kids. The beach is very clean, clear water, great snorkeling & love the new water trampoline!!! It was very hot during my stay & I was worried the bure would be hot during the night (no aircon or fan), but there was a really nice cool breeze at night that keeps the bure very cool (I actually has to use the blanket!). No mosquitos on the island is a bonus! There really is nothing bad to say about this little treasure, of all the places I've stayed in Fiji this is hands down my favourite!!

Bula and vinaka vaka levu for your wonderful review. You will be pleased to know that we have since added overhead fans in each of the Private Bure's for those rare nights when there is not a sea-breeze blowing.

Our stay at Leleuvia was brief but we enjoyed it very much. The staff are super friendly and looked after us really well. The resort was well run, the Bure where simple thatched cottages but comfortable and clean, with sea views. The bathrooms and showers where shared but very clean and the whole resort had nice detailing and finishings and art spread around. The food was really tasty too. They are a simple resort, no fancy pool and not far from main island, but amazing island to just chill for a few days, sandy all around, and you can circumnavigate the island by foot in 20min. They have SUP boards and kayaks for free and there is ok snorkelling in front of the beach. The manager Colin was nice and seemed to have a clued on attitude about ocean conservation which helps. Oh yes and there are no mosquitoes on the island as they ensure any stagnant water is cleaned so mosquitoes don't breed.
