Stayed in our RV at Joe Wheeler State Park twice in July 2013. Very quiet and serene. The best part was spending time in the outdoors in a natural setting. The park rangers are awesome. We stayed in a 24' RV and had a great time.

I love that Joe Wheeler is within 45 minutes of my home and we are able to go just for the weekend. For the most part all of the camp hosts and state park volunteers are pleasant and helpful. The park ranger is awesome and very helpful and super friendly. I would recommend Joe Wheeler to anyone looking for a great camping get-a-way with your family and/or friends!

We were looking for a place to spend two quality days with our children for a short weekend getaway. We chose The Lodge at Joe Wheeler State Park based on reviews and pictures of the area. It did not disappoint. The front desk desk staff was friendly, and the room was very spacious and clean. Since we have a one year old in a pack and play, the extra room (16 foot width) in the normal hotel room was a plus. Each room had a balcony with a spectacular view of the lake. The kids enjoyed watching the many boats go by. The swimming pool and splash pad was clean and lots of fun. We also enjoyed the Sunday lunch buffet at the lodge, which is well worth the price. For other food options, go to nearby Rogersville. While it is not a large town, it has several good places to eat and a dollar store for essentials. There is also a swim beach and golf course, which we did not visit. Overall the experiance was excellent and we will certainly be back.

Held family reunion and were glad we chose Joe Wheeler. Lakeside cottages were excellent way to get family together with plenty of room. Our cottage had 2 bedrooms plus loft and 2 bathrooms which held 2 adults, grandma and 3 kids with plenty of room and privacy. Kitchen was great for fixing our own food which is almost necessity since lodge restaurant was average. Rogersville had limited options so stock up in Huntsville. Lodge pool was large but did not have remotely enough chairs. Wi-fi did not work the entire 3 days we were there.
