We played all 3 courses in late March. February and March were exceptionally cold and wet in the south. Judge course is the jewel of the the three and should be played as much as possible. Senator is wide open, a good course to warm up on. Greens were in mediocre shape on Senator compared to other courses. Legislator was was sort of a hybrid between Senator and Judge, with front nine layed out like the Judge course, but then back nine being a little rinky-dink, back and forth on the side of a hill, winding up with wide open holes adjacent to Judge course. Affordability/value of the golf, including the Marriott hotel, was incredible. Staff at Capitol Hill was excellent, food was good, we were able to play cards right in the clubhouse grill and outside on patio. Very accomodating staff.

Great course, I have played all three courses here, the Judge is the course to play if you enjoy a good challenge

Great course. Very beautiful scenery. The staff is ho-hum and there is certainly not the great service I would expect from a top-notch golf course. Grounds crew expects you to play around them, rather than them getting the heck out of your way.

On our way from Grand National to Ross Bridge, we stopped off for a round of course at Capitol Hill. There are 3 courses: Senator, Legislator and Judge. The Judge is the more difficult of the courses and the most picturesque, so that's the one we played. The Judge is a beast. We wanted to play the purple tees (the tips) but the jump from that tee to the one in front of that is enormous, so we played the Orange. It was long and challenging enough, believe me. Especially with a little wind. #1 is a great starting hole. A lot of nerves on the VERY elevated tee with water on the right, around the back of the green and even to the left of the green. The 3 pars were excellent, and brutal, such that we had to play our 200-220 clubs over water on 3 of them thanks to some headwinds. #7 is ridiculous, but great. Thankfully we didn't take in the 675 yard purple tees, because again, we were into the wind for all 585 yards. Hole #10 is another reason not to play purple as it is over 700 yards back there. Oh, and by the way, there is water all over this course with a lot of long carries. Good luck!!!

This was the second stop on our Alabama golf trip, and having just left the magnificent Grand National, Opelika, Capital Hill at Prattville had something to live up to.
I can now say we were NOT disappointed. There are three courses here, played them all.
The Judge, Legislator and Senator. All different in their own right but all very good and kept in wonderful condition.
They may not quite have the magnificent scenery of Grand National but makes up for it in other ways.
The Judge is tough but fair, well worth playing for the experience, stand on the first tee and you will see what I mean.
Beware though lots of water with some long carries from the tees. Plenty of bunkers and hazards, alot of trees but reasonably wide fairways.
The Legislator I found to be a little like the Judge, not so tough, not quite the carries over water but a very enjoyable test. A few more trees which hides a number of holes from each other, I thought the most visually appealing of the three courses, my favourite.
The Senator is totally different, very open, quite long and more British links style with very big undulating greens that were very quick. It was also in magnificent condition.
We did however play it 7 days before the LPGA Navistar tour event was taking place.
For the LPGA to have a tour event there tells you something about the quality and test of golf.
As with Grand National the Staff are exactly the same at Capital Hill, friendly, helpful and very obliging.
The clubhouses at all sites are very similar, all very smart and well kept with big white pillars and sweeping staircases all have very good facilities.
I could honestly not find one fault with the RTJ trail courses we have played to date and will revisit them on future trips.
Visit them you will not regret it.
