This is by far the best resort I have ever stayed at. Not in a fancy way, but in an all around kind of way. This is the kind of place where you park your car and don't go near it again for the remainder of your stay. There is so much to do and it is so relaxing. The pool are is outstanding and nicely spread out, even when the hotel is full. The beach is lovely, and easily accessible. The hotel restaurant is great - food is delicious and service is outstanding. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel could use an update, but I really feel that they make up for it in service.
If you have a chance, check out the spa and fitness center, it is great.
Best rooms are near the pool, facing the ocean.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room, it is so worth it!

Spent two night here. Check in was a 90 minute line at 4pm on Sun June 30. No platinum check in line. Otherwise very nice grounds. Rooms average . I was allegedly given an upgraded room which was nice and clean but nothing special.

Sailing, fishing, kayaking, bike riding, playground, fabulous pools, etc. is all included with your resort fee. Beautiful hotel on the bay. Town has excellent shopping. Breakfast buffet is a must! We are planning to stay longer next time!

We were enchanted by this amazing location which was also the venue for our son's wedding reception. Very nice hotel rooms that could use a little updating, but the banquet areas were perfection -- beach front patios, bonfire pits, well appointed everything! (Alabama drinking age is 21. The staff calls the police on underage drinkers at receptions. Several wedding party members were from Texas and you may drink at 18 with your parents. Not so in Alabama)

We were looking forward to 4 very busy days and nights and ROOM SERVICE! The first day we ordered simple poached eggs, bacon and waffles and all were cold and inedible. Even room service coffee was bad. We left the untouched food in the hall. Other members of the wedding party did the same. Sadly, we had to leave the room for coffee in the main lodge. Advice: bring your own coffee and cream, buy local breads and jams and fruit to have in your room.

The pool ares and beach are well kept and spectacular. Plenty of walkways, bike paths and gardens. The spa was nice but the decor in in terrible need of updating. (The excellent staff makes up for the dated spa) Enjoy a pedicure with a glass of wine or champagne or a mimosa for your morning up-do before an event.

Room Tip: Chose beachside rooms

Weekend getaway for my small family. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. I think the food was overpriced for what you get in flavor and taste. The staff was equally fantastic in response, conversation, personable, and helpfulness. The room and bathroom was spacious. Be careful of the birds flying low trying to eat your food by the pool. If you are looking for a resort with a "southern" feel. This is it. If you're not looking for that, don't stay there.

It's far enough from the traffic beach so you don't have traffic noise in the evening. The resort has enough planned activities on site if you don't want to leave. Our kids had a great time on the beach, pool, and sand play area. There is also a small splash park for small children who can't swim on their own yet.

Room Tip: Go ahead and upgrade yourself to the rooms in the spa building. It's a longer walk to the resta...

Me and my 80 year old Mom spent 2 nights here for a short get away. This is the second time we have stayed here and it has become our favorite hotel. The Hotel staff are extremely attentive and prompt in making sure all your needs are met. All the staff are friendly, even the housekeeping and grounds keeping staff make an effort to speak to you. The rooms are comfortable, especially the beds. Our room faced the bay and we were able to sit on the balcony and watch the pelicans and other wildlife. The food was a little pricey but very good. I have stayed here several times for work conferences and have never had a bad experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

My wife & I went for a weekend getaway. The place was absolutely beautiful! Grounds & buildings were well kept & very pretty! Awesome views of the Bay and a great place to stroll around.
Check in was prompt & staff was very courteous. Our room had a beautiful view of the Bay as well. Beds very comfy & room was really clean.
Most of the food at the Bucky's Bar was really good, except for the raw oysters. We could smell them WAY before they got to us!!!!! If you can smell oysters like that, beware! Service just a little slow. One of the bartenders was great. Very attentative & informative about the area. Another bartender....not so great. He complained about EVERYTHING!!!!
The next night we tried out the restaurant there on property. Very slow service!!! Not efficient service. We place our orders, they brought out wife's salad. Not mine! I didn't say anything because wasn't really wanting a salad, but if it came with the meal(which it did), I should have recd it! I ordered the seafood plate, which should have come with fish, shrimp, fried oysters, hushpuppies, slaw. I received the fish. That was it!!!!!! Couldn't find the waitress for almost 15 minutes...she disappeared after she brought my food.....fish! Finally, by the time she came back, I was so mad I didn't tell her! We paid the bill and left!
Last night there we had room service, which was pretty good! Better than the restaurant by far!
P.S. The Grand Margarita was awesome!!!!!Best one ever had!
