We had high expectations about our stay at the Grand Hotel. We requested a room in the historic part of the hotel. The hotel had a 50 million dollar renovation recently but it wasn't apparent in our room. Dated furniture, fixtures, bath and moldy smelling duvet. On a brighter note the Sunday buffet was enjoyable and the location on the bay was nice.

Thank you for contacting us concerning your recent stay. It is through the constructive comments from our guests that allows us to improve our performance.
I apologize for your room not smelling fresh and the perception that the hotel was dated. The Grand offers many varieties of rooms from our more modern design of the Spa building to our historic setting in our Main and Bay buildings. It is disappointing that our descriptions did not meet your expectations. I was pleased to hear you enjoyed the Sunday brunch and beautiful setting on the Mobile Bay. We are very proud of our great staff, our diverse facility and our local community. We look forward to serving you on your return to the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa.

My husband and I recently visited the Grand for our 36th anniversary! It is the most amazing place! We love walking along the beach and watching the sunset! They have the most wonderful breakfast in the world! The staff goes out of their way to help you with whatever you need. This is a wonderful place to sit down and relax!

I stayed at the Grand Marriott for four days for a professional conference. The resort grounds are stunning - many scenic walking paths among large live oaks and ponds (with a variety of waterfowl) with benches and tables for quiet conversation. There is also a path along the Bay for running, walking or simply watching ships or the sunset. While I didn't use many of the amenities, the pool looked spacious and well-kept, as did the beach areas. There is also a spa and two affiliated golf courses that are supposed to be major attractors during the tourist season. The rooms were large and all had balconies either overlooking the park area or the Bay. The only complaint that I had with the room was that there was no wireless service in our building, only hard-line connections to the internet. Fortunately, the hard-line connection was free and the convention center was equipped with wireless service. The food in the pool area restaurant was very good and reasonably priced, as was the breakfast buffet in the main dining room. The service in the pool restaurant was generally good (i.e. there was quite a large number of waitstaff attending to refills on coffee, water and drinks) but, for some reason, it took quite long time to get the check and complete payment on the bills (two different meals). Thus, if you are in a hurry (e.g. business travellers or avid golfers trying to make tee time; the leisurely pace may be appropriate for tourists wanting to linger at the dinner table), you may want to ask for the check when the meal is served. Otherwise, the staff throughout the resort are abundant, exceedingly friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: While all rooms had balconies with more than just a parking lot view, those on the bayside had spect...

Thank you for your comments. We do offer wireless service in all of our guestrooms and offer exceptional band width. Unfortunately, we were having signal challenges with our service provider during your stay, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I also apologize for the speed service not meeting your needs for obtaining the check at the end of your meal. Please understand this was an exception to our normal efficient serve. I was pleased to hear that the “staff throughout the resort are abundant, exceedingly friendly and helpful”. Again, thank you for your comments, we are always open on methods to improve our guest’s experience. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to the Point Clear, Fairhope area and The Grand Hotel Marriott Resort.

The Grand Hotel Marriott is one of the grand dames of the hotel industry. The setting is spectacular and the food and service are equal to the stunning grounds. Beautiful art work by local artisans abound throughout the public areas of the hotel. There are many activities including a noteworthy golf course, if sitting by Mobile Bay and watching the ships go by isn't enough to draw you back again and again. A must-do if you are in South Alabama.

My son (14) and I spent the weekend at the Grand eating and golfing. The room and view were nice. Older hotel but nice. Our sheets were dirty( otherwise very clean). The dining room was shut down for remodeling so the pool area is where food was served during our stay. Seafood pasta was good, my sons hamburger average. Great fries. Golf first day azalea very nice, mostly open, good greens. We played 9 more holes. We ate lunch and bought clothes in pro shop between rounds. My son bought a rain suit for his golf this spring and he was so excited. Well he left his new rain suit And when we realized it days later it was not turned in to lost and found. Life Lesson. The next day we played dogwood. Nicer estheticaly and harder for sure.

Overall great weekend. Definately disappointed my son had to learn this lesson, but sure someone is happy with their free rain suit. This disappointment only reason I wouldn't go back. Otherwise great.

I am glad we had an opportunity to speak on the phone. As stated, I apologize for cleanliness of the room not meeting your expectations and our standards. We thoroughly checked all areas of the hotel, the guestrooms, pro shop and the cart area for the rain suit. Unfortunately it was not found. We are very proud of our lost and found process and most of the time we are successful. As discussed, please stay in contact and let me know when you have plans to return to The Grand Hotel Marriott Resort. I was pleased to hear you enjoyed the resort and golf facility. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

I love this hotel! The setting is really beautiful... I love just walking around the property under the oak trees by the ponds or along the boardwalk by the beach. The pool is fantastic - probably the best in the entire area. I also love the outside fire pits .. it's so nice to just sit there, relax and have a drink. I also enjoy the free water sports equipment... esecially fun is getting a canoe and paddlling around in the bay. The resort also has a fantastic tennis center. The rooms are adequate but nothing spectacular but I do enjoy sitting on the balcony in the evenings. Also don't miss downtown Fairhope or the Fairhope pier (about five minutes away) and the Wash House Restaurant (about a 3 minute drive).

On your return trip you will have to experience THE SPA at The Grand which is ranked as one of “Conte Nast Top 100 Spas in the World”. Thank you for staying with us.

I sometimes work in the Mobile area. On weekends, I like to get away for some R&R. One of my favorite destinations is the Grand Hotel. It has a rich history, and the original building has a lot of character. The hotel is on 6 acres, so it gives you the oppotunity to take some nice walks along the shores of Mobile Bay. In the summer, they show movies outside. The village of nearby Fairhope is a must visit. Quaint, charming, eclectic all come to mind. Visit the art studios and talk to the proprietors. All great people!

It was wonderful having you as a guest. You will have to plan a trip for the third weekend in March for-Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. It is a good time to enjoy the warm hospitality and charm of The Grand Hotel Marriott Resort and our eclectic local artist community. Springtime in Point Clear is spectacular!
