“Good food, great music”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

The food at the Compleat Angler is consistently good, excellent service, an fairly priced. The entertainment (Justin Fobes) was great. Justin is a top-notch entertainer who does some incredible arrangements of some popular songs. You won't hear an individual with such a great voice and incredible guitar licks any better.

“Mixed review on this place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

We tried this restaurant on our first night in town. We went around 5:30 & were seated right away. We could see out to the marina, so its a nice view. Out of 5 entrees ordered, 4 were really good: kid's fried fish, shrimp & grits, grilled shrimp, & fried oysters. My husband ordered the barbacoa sandwich & when he began to eat, he noticed that it was extremely salty. He ate a few more bites & finally gave up. He described it as eating a salt lick.

Unfortunately, our server completely disappeared after dropping off our food. So, for the next 20 minutes or so, he could not ask about the sandwich or try to order something else. None of us could get drink refills either. It was frustrating, to say the least, & we saw lots of other servers around the area. When our server finally reappeared, she was told about the salty taste & was extremely nice & apologetic. She said she needed to report it to the chef & offered to bring something else out for my husband. Since everyone else was finished, he did not want to make us all wait. It was agreed that we would not be charged for his meal.

The server later reported that the chef tasted the meat & agreed that it was way too salty. He threw the entire batch out. While I'm pleased that we were not charged for food that could not be eaten, I'm also frustrated that our server disappeared for such a long time. I realize things happen, but at a restaurant, if one server is out of commission, the manager should either come tend to the table or have someone else fill in a bit. So I can't give this restaurant a higher rating than average for this visit.

“Outdoor Bar”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Stopped at the Out door bar of this place in the wharf. Nice views, less than enthusiastic service and $21 for 2 (not top shelve) margaritas plastic cups! They sure didn't taste like $10 drinks to me There are surely better options at the wharf so we won't be back.

“Was not very impressed with the menu here”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

I was not very impressed with the menu here. There seemed to be more chicken dishes then seafood. No crab legs, but plenty of fried fish and shrimp. The atmosphere was very good and the bay view was great. Not always easy to get a close parking space if it is busy. The fresh bread they serve with dinner is fantastic.
