“Great stay!”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

We are really enjoying it. It's nice, great view, and we came on the Thunder on the Gulf weekend (unexpected). We stayed on the ninth floor, in a condo of a friend of ours, but the condo complex in all was very nice.

Stayed in unit 1103 the week of March 24-31. We caught a really good break in that the weather was sunny and in the 80s all week -- certainly not a guarantee that time of year in Orange Beach. That being said, we had a great experience. All of the comforts of home. Plenty of room for my family of 5. Beautiful view from the deck. Outdoor pool was a bit chilly but that is understandable given time of year. Beach was beautiful. Great area. Highly recommend this condo for families. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach is a great family area. There is plenty to do to keep you busy but none of the "hooliganism" that plagues areas such as Panama City. Bed was saggy but if that is your only complaint on vacation it was a good one!

My wife and I stayed at Bluewater Condo #802 for the first time this year and was very pleased with the complete stay. Our condo was very tastefully decorated and up to date decor. The balcony was second to none lots of space to hang out or relax after a long day at the beach or pool. We will return for future vacation retreats with our family and friends to this complex and condo #802.

The staff at complex were very nice from the time we pulled in at front gate to the time we checked out. the location of the complex was very central to shopping and restaurants in the area.

The indoor pool area was very nice and completely updated (well maintained) the outdoor pool was rather large with lots of lounge chairs around the pool.

The walkway to the beach is just a hop skip and a jump away and you are on the white sand.

"WE WILL BE BACK"

Room Tip: Condo #802 would be our choice!!!

Unit #802 week of July 9-16, 2011.

We've been coming to the Orange Beach/Perdido Key area since 1991. This was our first stay at Bluewater, because our usual location in Perdido Key was unavailable to us.

We came away feeling that Unit 802 was good overall, but not without drawbacks. We chose the unit because the three bedrooms could accommodate my wife and I, our two married children, and our 2-year old grandson. We were able to do that in reasonable comfort, but things were still a little cramped for that large a group. We were of the opinion that the unit would be better suited for single families or better yet, older couples looking for long-term winter rentals with friends and family dropping in from time to time.

Pros: Good, central beachfront location. Very close to supermarkets, drug stores, and numerous dining and entertainment options within five-minute drive. Nice....if smallish...balcony with good gulf views. For the most part, well-furnished and equipped.
The decor was attractive, tasteful, and welcoming.

Cons: While there was plenty of bedding, some of the pillows were "rock-hard". Internet service ($19.95/week) was so-so. Hardwired connection was decent...wi-fi was terrible. We wound up getting a refund. Smallish balcony was very poor for catching the usual refreshing summer afternoon sea breezes. The result being rather uncomfortable. This would not be a problem outside of summer season...and probably isn't a problem anytime with the canorner units here.

While our 802 unit was well-maintained for the most part, the same can't be said for the physical plant of the building itself. The biggest problem is with the two elevators....very slow during busy periods, subject to frequent breakdowns, and uncomfortably hot. Lines for elevators and luggage carts can also be very long, hot, and uncomfortable during busy periods. The hot tub in the indoor pool area was completely out of service, and the poorly-equipped "fitness center" was a flat-out joke. The main public areas are the pools....indoor, outdoor, and kiddie pools. The indoor pool is very small, but the kiddie pool and outdoor pool are entirely satisfactory, generally clean, and well-maintained.

Another occasional problem while we were here is security. Controlling access is obviously desirable, but the security personnel's priority (when they were here) seemed to focus a little bit too much on checking parking passes and not quite enough on enforcing safety rules in the pool areas or curbing teenagers from repeatedly pushing all the buttons on the already overtaxed, unreliable, and creaky elevators.

Room Tip: Pick a time when it's not completely full

We have stayed in the same unit for 5 years..Unit 804 at Blue Water. It is clean, very nicely furnished the owner cares that the people who stay are happy. With 3 bedrooms and sleeper sofa were were fine with the kids and their friends. Flat screens on the wall and in the bed rooms.

Our 3 night stay for the Labor Day weekend unit 401:
THE GOOD: Great location - 4th floor with AWESOME view - wrap around porch - corner unit. Mostly clean. Slightly outdated furnishings - but no big deal!
THE NOT SO GOOD: Only one bath towel/wash rag per person - no hand towels, so I was washing constantly. NO DISH SOAP OR SPONGE - so how in the heck are you supposed to wash dishes (that they ask be cleaned and replaced in the cabinets upon your departure!)? A broom, but NO dust pan????? Not even as much as salt and pepper in condo - absolutely NOTHING! Not enough serving utensils, although plenty of forks and knives. NO coffee filters! They don't even tell you what kind of coffee pot so you can bring filters! And, no lie, the coffee took 30 minutes to brew! Extra pillows but no extra sheets or pillow cases. Broken lamp (falling apart broken) in one of the bedrooms. Old food (popcorn, chips) found under living room furniture, etc.
So, if you book this condo, just be prepared to bring EVERYTHING you can think of with you!!!!

Bluewater condo,#1002, is in need of some major renovations. When we arrived on July 5, 2008, the place was not clean. There was food under the furniture, the rug in the living room did not look like it had even been vaccumed. There were several repairs that needed to be made. The blind in the master bedroom was broken, two eyes on the stove did not work, the vent-a-hood did not work, the door in the small bathroom did not lock, the dryer did not work properly, the top outlets did not work, there were not any window coverings in the living room, and there were not enough towels so therefore we had to wash daily. There were plenty of dishes and pot and pans. I really blame Meyer Realty for not contacting the owners about these problems. We were told that it was the owners responsibility to do the repairs. Have they been contacted? We will not rent through Meyer again. If they can't oversee their property any better than this, they need help!
