Me & my husband went on a Friday afternoon. Only a hand full of shops were opened, and didn't want to go in most of them because they were the high price boutique style shops. the ferris wheel wasn't even opened. we went in a little candy/cafe shop got some coffee that was to hot, but ok.. our trip to the wharf was not great.. I was to believe there was more shops there then what are really there.. disappointed :(

One of the best marinas along the Gulf Coast. Professional staff and excellent amenities for both the transient boater or local. Beverly and her staff are always helpful and work hard to keep the marina looking beautiful.
The rest of the Wharf has an excellent choice of shops, restuarants, and even a Rave cinema.
I highly recommend this place for a visit.

Saw Steely Dan there, who were great, BTW. The amphitheater is a very well laid out venue and the facility is nice, which makes it more unfortunate that the general experience is such a downer.

I was harassed by the local police in the VIP parking lot even though I had the proper passes and credentials. As stated before, it was raining but no umbrellas were allowed in. The line of people returning to their cars to stash umbrellas was as long as the line going in.

Drink prices are exorbitant, but that's to be expected. Security are a humorless and hard-nosed lot. Don't think about dancing, cuz you'll be harassed by security and maybe thrown out. To top it all off, I got pick-pocketed, a first in my 50 years. Redneck city. No thanks, will not be back.

The Amphitheater at The Wharf: Let me start by saying I agree with the other review about the Steely Dan Concert, the chairs in the "reserved" seating is disappointing as was the spacing for your knees. It is obvious that the venue tried to smash as many rows of chairs as possible into as small a space as possible, because there was zero knee space, and after 15 minutes of sitting on these "card Table" steel folding chairs, your butt was killing you.
The price for water ($4) was a bit high for an outdoor facility. I would expect to pay $4 for water at an A/C arena with padded seating, but not here. It was 85+ degrees, too.
The security was a joke. 1st they would not allow umbrellas inside an open air facility even though it was raining as most patrons entered the arena, patrons were turned back to their vehicles to store their umbrellas. Then NO cameras were allowed, not even cell photos. The gestapo security constantly walked the isles looking for violators to this menace. Lastly, the gestapo decended upon patrons enjoying the concert (dancing) and were told by security that they must sit down or would be escorted out of the facility, to the boos of the surrounding patrons who also wanted to let loose.
Eventually, as the concert entered its final 30 minutes, the cameras and the dancers defied the gestapo and the real party began.

By the way, Steely Dan was great, despite the attempts by security to throw a wet blanket on the night.

My advice, bring a cushion to sit on, bring ponchos if the weather is threatening, and only use your camera in the last 30 minutes while you are dancing in the spaceless isles.
