“Great place for families”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

As an early reviewer stated, the condo units are individually owned and rented. My family along with another family decided to rent an 8th floor, 3BR/3BA condo from an owner for a New Year's Eve/Day getaway. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 5 kids (all boys, ages 5-12). WE LOVED IT. Our condo was very clean, had all modern amenities, and had all the comforts of home. The master bedroom was oceanview and had it's own sliding door onto the balcony. The master bath was huge and had a jacuzzi bathtub. The 2nd br/ba was just a tad smaller than the master, but was still very nice. We put the kids in the smallest bedroom. It came with two twin beds, which suited the oldest kids just fine. Our unit had a roll-out twin and a sofa bed in the living area, which let all of our party sleep comfortably. The kitchen had all modern equipment and with 9 people came in handy. Even though Orange Beach/Gulf Shores has a multitude of restaurants, we only ate out twice. We took advantage of the grocery stores in the area (Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, and Publix) and cooked most meals. I really don't know why some of the earlier reviewers feel that The Enclave is lacking or not up to par with other condos. It was the perfect getaway for our families. We adults basically stayed on the balcony drinking wine and champagne, while contemplating life looking out over the beautiful Gulf and the living area watching bowl games:-) The kids brought their Xbox's and zoned out on video games! Our unit had 4 TVs (each br & family room). We went down to walk on the beautiful white sand beach a couple of times and used the indoor heated pool every day. All in all, one of the best New Year's I've ever had!

We had a wonderful time here. I would recommend this place so long as you are not looking for anything too fancy. We saw dolphins twice a day. Only saw one little jellyfish the whole week we were there. I heard they can come in and be out after a couple of days or so. I was glad they were out to sea when we were here. Not a whole lot of seaweed until the last day. We were in Panama Beach one time where there was an abundance of seaweed. The stores were right across the street which came in handy for all those little things one needs. Our son lost his wedding ban in the ocean so this bummed us out. I am hoping if anyone finds it they report it to the guard at The Enclave. But, I won't expect to really ever see it again. But, really this place has location, location, location for family fun. No night life though. If you want the night life I suggest you try Panama Beach, Pensecola or Gulf Shores.

Room Tip: Our room was on the east corner with lots of window. We could see all the way down the beach east an...

It is difficult to write a review of this property because the condo units are individually owned and rented. By that, I mean that it would be like reviewing a neighborhood - some homes are well-kept and some may not be. The unit we had was perfect for 7 adults and 2 kids - not too fancy but very comfortable. It was on the 4th floor and had a large balcony overlooking the beach. The elevators were very fast. Our unit was well-maintained, the AC worked well, and the showers had great water pressure. The location is ideal. It is right across the street from a mini-Walmart, which I didn't know existed. There are also a couple of grocery stores, a Subway, Dairy Queen, and a numerous other local fast-food places within walking distance for quick meals if you don't want to cook or spend big bucks on meals. Access to the beach is quick and easy and the beach was great. The only drawback was some patches of seaweed. The water was perfect. We loved relaxing on the balcony when we weren't swimming, dining or shopping. No need to take a dolphin cruise because we saw dolphins nearly every day right from our balcony. We had debated renting a home but decided in favor of a place that had both an indoor and outdoor pool for the kids. That came in handy when it was raining, though the pools are not overly large and can get crowded. The only drawback we encountered to being right on the beach was noise at night due to parties and kids playing outside, sometimes until after midnight. This was only a problem in the master bedroom which featured a sliding door right onto the balcony. Parking can be a problem. When we rented our unit it was advertised as having 2 reserved covered parking spots. 6 weeks before our visit and after we had already paid-in-full for the week I got an email from the owner saying he had sold one of the parking spots. When I suggested he should knock a little off the price he said he would just refund our money and cancel our reservation. That was not what I wanted since I'd had the place reserved for 3 months and did not want to go through the search process again. We parked one of our cars in the reserved spot and the other in general parking which can fill up if you get in after 9:30 pm per the guard. In that event you have to park across the street in the Walmart parking lot. Not a big deal since there is a traffic light with a pedestrian crossing. We never had to park across the street. Nevertheless, I was still irked that the second reserved spot we had paid for sat vacant the entire week.

Our family had a great time in Orange Beach and plan to go back in the future. It's not the fanciest place on the beach, but it was perfect for us, and it would be hard to beat the location for convenience. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Corner units have wrap-around balconies.

We stayed here for a family vacation at the height of busy season. The location itself is great. It is centrally located in the area and provided easy access anywhere we needed to go. Itbis also directly across the street from a Winn Dixie grocery store, a couple liquor stores, a Dollar General, cigar shops, and a couple restaurants. The unit itself, however, was simply average. I choose not to name the actualy unit in this review, but I assure you most were comparable. The furniture in the unit was badly in need of being replaced. The furniture was also way too big for the unit, which caused a very jumbled feeling. The decorations were spartan and bland. The back sliding glass door was broken and had to be locked via a large piece of wood. This was a problem as the unit was on the ground level. On to the complex. There is simply not enough parking. We were informed by security that there were approximately 60 units in the complex. Each unit was given 2 parking passes. However, there are less than 80 parking spaces. This includes a gated section of 30 spaces for unit owners only. There were less than 10 vehicles in this area while we visited. Paying customers of the complex had no on-site parking. This bothered me. Also, the wifi access, which is shared throughout the complex rather than each unit having it's own, was terrible. It was spotty, dropped service every few minutes, and was extremely slow when it was working. Couple this with the fact that there was virtually no cell service (forget 3G) anywhere in the complex and you are virtually cut off from all communication. If I want to be unavailable I prefer it to be of my own choosing. Other than these problems the complex is about like any other in the area. The outdoor pool is average. The indoor pool is average. If you have other choices in the area for the same price I would look elsewhere. In short, this is one of the more basic and underwhelming complexes in the area. Nothing to write home about, but also nothing to really complain about.

We were quite disappointed with the condition of our unit, the building and the amenities of the building. Thankfully we were able to move to a different building.

The Enclave has a great location across the street from a shopping center and close to places to eat! Our room was a good size with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and the bathrooms were much larger than most condos. The building is very close to the ocean, which we love not having to drag our beach stuff a long way. We stayed in unit 502 which is managed by Brett/Robinson Realty.

I stayed in a 3Br, 3Ba for a bachelor party in April 2008. The bedrooms were all large and the bathrooms were even bigger. There was a full kitchen, dining area and very large living room with wrap around sofas. The balcony was bigger than Ive ever stayed in before as well.

Hotel has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool which was nice since the weather was still too cool for the ocean. Its located right on the beach in Orange Beach across from the Winn Dixie shopping center.

Id recommend this for anyone looking for a nice updated, clean condo. The price wasnt bad either.
