We found an ad for the Warehouse Bistro in Opelika, AL by looking in the Yellow Pages during a recent visit. I checked Trip Advisor for a review and found none, but did find their web page.
Since the Bistro was a Wine Spectator award recipient we decided to give it a try. It really is in a warehouse district just off the interstate. Check the ad or map for directions.
My wife had Veal Oscar and I had a fillet. Both were perfectly done. Even the mashed potatoes got the chef's full attention. Everything was wonderful, especially the bread pudding with bananas and blueberries (the best we have ever had anywhere), a definite A plus.
The wine list featured a full range of mostly California wines. They were very reasonably priced. We had a David Bruce Pinot Noir ($37) that was not marked up by 300% like it might be at so many other places.
The service and staff was very professional and friendly, and the atmosphere was suitable for casual fine dining. Our golf clothes were not out of place.
It isn't often that you run into a surprise like the Warehouse Bistro and it was a delight to find a place so unexpected.
Try it if you are in Auburn or Opelika. You won't be disappointed.
