Played both courses. Both have great lake views and are very tough. Great conditioning. Bunkers in the landing areas, small greens with heavy bunkering. I would recommend playing up a tee from your normal.

We played Lakes and the front nine of Links and they were both both scenic and pleasant to play. I am a 20 index and still managed to par or bogey 19 of the 27 holes which is my definition of good golfing. So while the holes looked hard, they were quite playable although we did lose a few balls. The facility was much quieter on the Monday we played it than the RTJ courses we had played near Birmingham and Montgomery so our rounds were relatively pristine and very pretty in the fall foliage and long shadows. Golf the way it is meant to be played! This facility is bare bones--no tees, towels, GPS although our laser rangefinder worked pretty well at these courses and were spotty at the others. All of the RTJ Trail courses serve an excellent breakfast sandwich, including the clubhouse here.

We came to the area to play the two Grand National courses. They are beautiful and sufficiently challenging for any level of play. The Lakes is one of our favorite on the Robert Trent Jones Trail.

If you are a golfer and visiting the area, you MUST play this facility!! It has two, very challenging 18 hole courses as well as an equally challenging Par 3 course. On all of them, you should bring your best game because the Robert Trent Jones Courses will eat your lunch if your are not careful!!! The Clubhouse if also a very nice facility! The resturant has great food and is a nice stop before, during, and/or after your round of golf! (Try the Monteray Chicken Sandwich, Club sandwich, or hamburger...all are great!)
