“Quiet, restful, off beaten path”
Reviewed June 10, 2009

We stayed at this lodging while driving home from Orlando, FL. The rooms were comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. We especially loved the separate tub and shower which enabled our boys to bathe quickly...one family sharing one bathroom gets old after a week. The only disappointment was the one bar of soap and one bottle of shampoo that was provided...hard to share and who wants to double-check the supplies before starting a shower. I was surprised when our room had outside doors but the lodging is in a very quiet and secure feeling location. We just wished we had known that before off-loading our bags onto a cart and pushing the cart to the elevator and coming to a dead end at a set of stairs. I was taken aback that the desk clerk did not mention that as I was checking in...details matter at a hotel at this level or at least I think they do. The pools were nice. Overall, it was a nice place for an overnight stay in the area. The 24 hours of free internet was nice...although not wireless in room.

Not much to add to the previous rooms. A very nice property, with an especially nice pool and patio area. Golfers visiting the Grand National courses should love this hotel, as it literally is less than a mile from the course and even offers an incredibly large putting green at the front of the hotel.

If you are a person who likes to relax by the pool after a day on the course, you will likely enjoy the Marriott. The indoor pool is ordinary but comfortable, and the hot tub is perfect. The outdoor pool area is especially nice, with many chaise lounge chairs surrounding the pool. Being there in the summer would probably make for a really relaxing and comfortable night. Guests might also enjoy grabbing a drink and sitting out on the patio, where a couple of fire pits make for a nice, relaxing atmosphere.

The rooms have high speed internet, though wireless connection might be helpful. In addition, it might be a nice touch if there were refridgerators in the rooms. Still, the rooms were very pleasant, and the balconies were a nice touch.

For my money, the Marriott Shoals in Florence is the nicest resort property on the Robert Trent Jones Trail, but the Marriott at Grand National is a very close second. All in all, a very nice place that I would recommend it.

My wife and I have stayed at the Marriott Grand National on four different ocassions. Two for class reunions and two strictly for pleasure and relaxation. We have stayed at some of the best hotels in the nation and Grand National ranks in our top four. The staff is super professional.

Spent one night with my husband on a business trip. Great facility and service. Late check-in was no problem. Immaculate rooms and wonderful breakfast. Lots of nice perks at a good value. Quiet place in a peaceful location. We will return again!

My son and I just returned from an overnight stay at the Marriott in Opelika, Alabama. The property is beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious, and very nice. The bathroom was large with a seperate shower and tub and had lots of towels. Our room had two queen size beds and they were extremely comfortable. Overall, it was a great stay and I can't think of anything that would have made it better.

Took a three day golf trip and found the golf courses, lake & link , in great shape. Pace of play was great. Good food and drink in the clubhouse between 18's as well. The Marriott was very nice with comfortable beds. The only downfall was after 36 holes we were looking forward to the hot tub but it was in repair.
Cool 9 hole putting course in front of the hotel was fun to settle some bets.

Stayed here for 3 nights in September. I was in town for a meeting and stayed over for an Auburn football game. There is a huge difference in rates from a Thursday night & Friday/Saturday night when it is a game weekend (expect to pay $60-$100/night more on weekend). This is going to be the norm for all hotels in the area.

This is the perfect place to stay in the area if you are:
1. Looking for quiet hotel
2. Planning on playing golf at the nearby course.

The hotel sits right next to the course & is less than a mile down the road from the clubhouse. They have a shuttle from the hotel to the course. The lobby and staff are excellent with free coffee/juice/muffins in the morning. The beds were also very comfortable and the hotel bar and outdoor area were very relaxing.

The only negative I had about this place was the location from the university. Its not a bad drive, but if you want to go out & hit the bars near Auburn - the drive back would be a concern vs. walking somewhere. Other than the golf course, there is nothing close by and will require you to drive about 7-10 minutes.
