“OK, good value & good location”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

Stayed this weekend at the Fairfield Inn in Opelika as we had early tee times at the Robert Trent Jones Grand National golf course. Fairfield Inns are a good value. We were disappointed that the complimentary breakfast isn't available on weekends until 7 AM. We had 7 AM tee times so we missed breakfast each day. I am glad to know that they left a few apples and bananas out. The pillows on bed were unusually small for some reason. The bed a little hard. The PTAC unit in the guest room is loud when it cycles. The Front Desk guest service agent did just an OK job checking us in and did not inquire as to reason for staying or did she recognize my Marriott Reward status. Every time I walked by the guest the agents heads were bent down checking internet on their computers instead of engaging with hospitality. The bed linens are low thread count and the bottom sheet came off during the night. This is the first FFI that I have stayed in that didn't have hand lotion as one of the standard amenities. Some of the TV channels were blank and the overall offerings on the TV could have been a bit more expanded.

A great location with stores, shops, and restaurants located across the street in Tiger Town. We had a excellent late breakfast on Sunday at one of the best Waffle Houses I have ever eaten in located directly across the street. Enjoyed a nice dinner at Brick Oven Pizza across the street.

Bottom line, OK stay, great location and good price value with AAA rate.

Room Tip: The complimentary breakfast on weekends does not start until 7 AM.

Stayed here for the Iron Bowl. Close to town, nice rooms and good service. We were lucky to have gotten a really great rate due to a pricing mistake made by the hotel, but they honored it during what would have been a very expensive weekend to be in the Auburn, AL area. Close to shopping at TigerTown and free breakfast, I recommend this one when traveling there!

Stayed here for business trip in eastern Alabama. Hotel is in a good location just off of the interstate and convenient. Across the road, there are many shopping opportunities with eateries scattered throughout. Hotel was quiet, and clean with a very pleasant staff to assist.

This Fairfield Inn features a very devoted, hardworking staff. The hotel room was comfortable and the morning breakfast buffet included Asian Noodles and other items not normally found on the Fairfield Breakfast Buffet table.
The Internet service had a "glitch" I spent 45 minutes on the phone with IT Support to resolve the problem.
A large spider requested to spend the night in my room but I dispatched it quickly. I hope the staff will take care of the rest of the resident spiders if there are any.
Finally, I had booked two rooms but my hotel invoice was inaccurate. The staff quickly corrected the problem with the invoice.
Three problems with a one night stay is not acceptable. The Fairfield inn Opelika does not meet company standards.

Room Tip: If internet service is important to you try another location in Opelika,

I really wanted to like this Fairfield Inn property, since my husband is almost at Gold Status with Marriott, but I suspect we won't return, even though we have an Auburn student to visit. The front desk and breakfast area staffs did an amazing job over this at-capacity "moving day/Fan Day" weekend. The public areas were all clean and well-stocked, and they were happy to answer all of the many questions that they received, from inquiries about shuttles to driving directions to requests for additional towels & blankets.

Unfortunately, I was not as impressed by the in-room service. Our reservation was for 4, but both days, we only had 3 bath towels. The second day, they threw out our already open (Fairfield Inn provided) shampoo, conditioner & soap, but did not replace them. Imagine our 11 year old's surprise, when she was already in the shower and discovered nothing was in the bathroom for her to use. Luckily, she yelled out for mom and I pulled out some of my personal
stash to share. And the carpet in the room did not look as though it had been vacuumed during our stay.

The location of the hotel is right by all of the fabulous shopping at Tiger Town, which was very convenient for all of the shopping that was necessary. Unfortunately, it was also right by the Interstate, and you could hear the trucks driving by all night long. This did not seem to bother our children, but mom & dad had two restless nights of sleep.

Through my husband's employer, we were able to get a 2-queen-bed room for $107 per night, which seemed reasonable for that busy weekend, but still really hard to swallow in a small town. At that price, I felt like I should have been at a Marriott Courtyard property.

Stayed overnight while driving through Alabama. Great location (right off the freeway), comfortable and clean rooms (refrigerator and microwave in room as well), and fantastic staff. Everyone from the receptionist to the breakfast room attendants was helpful and friendly. We didn't have an opportunity to use the work-out area or pool, but both looked to be clean and in good condition. Breakfast was plentiful and provided many options. Free Internet access. For a rate of $104 dollars, the room and stay was better than expected. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel is close to the interstate and US 280, very clean and well maintained. We were a late checkin and requested room was not available but the staff was excellent and offered an upgrade at the same price as the requested room. The morning breakfast was great as well. Have stayed at other Marriott properties but this was the first stay at a Fairfield Inn, they made a great impression and will try them again at this and other locations.
