Good food for an excellent price. This place is a good fit for people looking for a good meat and three. I've eaten here for as long as I can remember and it never disappoints. TIPS: don't go during lunch rush hour, fried green tomatos on Tuesday's and Thursday's menu are excellent, and get the buttermilk pie.

City Cafe is an incredibly simple place. You don't go for tons of bells and whistles, you go for incredible southern cooking.

I had the hamburger steak, steamed cabbage, mashed potatoes and candied yams and everything was divine. Don't forget the sweet tea!

Food comes out incredibly fast, 5 minutes or less after you order it.

They have a rotating menu, so you can go every day and not eat the same thing each week. Tuesday is their chicken n dumpling day and they are amazing! They close during the University's holiday schedule, so you may want to call before you make a special trip downtown. You'll also want to get there before 1:30-2:00 pm because they only cook a certain amount of food each day and the later it is the more likely they are to be out of something.

Food is average but prices are right and servings are generous. Great place for breakfast or lunch especially if you are on a budget
