We traveled with a group of 14 to Alabama to play the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and stayed 2 nights in Montgomery downtown at the Hampton Inn and Suites. It is beautifully done....all rooms are suites with sofa, chairs, desk, small kitchen and the fabulous Hilton/Hampton beds. The bathroom is spacious, clean and well equipped. Breakfast is great, staff is great, valet parking a plus, and you can walk to good restaurants and bars. We highly recommend it.

What a great find in downtown Montgomery. Close to everything downtown Montgomery offers. Better value than the Renaissance and the Embassy Suites with the same downtown location. One of the best free breakfasts we have ever had.

Good central downtown location convenient to restaurants and tourist attractions. Although the hotel building is old, the rooms are up to date and have the standard Hampton Inn features, e.g. free Internet access, flat screen TV, comfortable beds, coffee maker. It had a shower but no tub. Our room was fine but we were staring at a brick wall. If you want a view, you need to be on the 5th floor or higher and check that you are facing in a good direction and be aware of the traffic noise concerns mentioned in some of the other reviews. The air conditioning system was slow to cool the room. According to the front desk, it is designed to cool at 1 degree per hour so set the temperature as soon as you check in. The staff was helpful and two minor issues that we had were corrected quickly. The hotel has a small (about 20 spaces) parking lot in back and can accommodate more in another lot that we never had to use. Parking in the small lot can be tight so you may want to think about backing in.
The free hotel breakfast was good including hot options. For your other meals, there are several restaurants nearby. Go out the front door of the hotel and turn right and then cut through The Alley and you’ll come to Dreamland Barbecue, which was popular. If you are interested in a pub atmosphere, the Montgomery Brewing Company was just a few blocks further but it is a smoking facility. You’ll see other options as you walk to these.
The hotel is next door to the Hank Williams Museum and a short walk from Union Station and the Montgomery Visitors Center where you can get tourist information and catch a shuttle bus that takes you around many of the historic sites. The shuttle costs 50 cents and seniors can reboard free. There are two routes. If two buses are running, they’ll come by every 20-30 minutes but if only one bus has to cover both routes it will be more like 45 minutes or more. We walked back to the hotel from the capitol and it was less than a mile.

This hotel had a convenient location. The rooms were spotlessly clean, as was the entire hotel. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Very polite and helpful staff. Free valet parking. Every comfort one could ever ask for away from home. I can't think of one negative comment. Perfect facility....

My husband and I visited Montgomery with our teenage son while on a visit at Huntingdon College. We checked into hotels near Huntingdon and found this Hampton Inn. We were impressed with this place - it has a great downtown location with good restaurants nearby. The parking was located behind the hotel and was easily accessible. The rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. The breakfast was included the next morning and it was everything you need plus a free newspaper and free Wi-Fi.

The only negatives were the nearby trains - they go by often during the night and if you are a light sleeper it will keep you awake. The other negative was the room was warm and no matter how much we adjusted the temp it didn't change.

I would go back and stay here though because it offered a terrific value and you can't beat the location.
