I have eaten Mexican food from San Francisco to San Diego and from Browsville to Key West. (Honestly, I don't particularly care for the Mexican food in Mexico?!?) I have eaten at this restaurant at least 50 times. It is the best anywhere. The owner/chef is Mexican culinary school trained --not some franchise hack or family recipe scrambler. Mole sauce is excellent. Pico de Gallo with avocado is fresh and tasty. Guacamole is somehow creamy and chunky. Chile rellenos are unique and enjoyable, especially if you are a cheese lover. The grilled sandwiches with their layers of veggies (I think more Cuban-spirited than Mexican) may be the best thing on the menu at lunch. [Don't go here if you don't like Cilantro.] Even the sweet tea (remember this is deep south Montgomery, AKA "the Gump") is just right. I'd recommend going before sundown and parking out front because the neighborhood isn't exactly Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
