My husband and I took advantage of a relaxing overnight stay in town at the lovely and charming Red Bluff Cottage, Bed and Breakfast. It was the perfect overnight getaway and our first in a B&B. We were welcomed by Barry and Bonnie who were such very gracious hosts. Their home is beautiful inside and out and there are little charming things everywhere. We loved spotting the little lambs that are tucked all around the house in artworks or little statutes of them here and there. We went out for a nice night on the town in Montgomery's growing downtown nightlife, which included delicious dining at nearby Lek's Railroad Thai restaurant overooking the river, and then about a block away to see dueling pianos at the new Alley Bar across from the Montgomery Biscuits stadium. When we returned to the B&B that evening our bed was turned down and pillows topped with sweet chocolates. The next morning, after wonderful showers with the fluffiest of towels, we went upstairs to the dining room where Bonnie and Barry had it and the overflowing with wonderful aromas of breakfast coming from the kitchen. We were served delicious yogurt parfaits which were followed up with wonderful belgian style waffles topped with blueberries/strawberries and cream and served with warm maple syrup and sausages. Mmmm.... it was heaven.

We highly recommend you stay at the Red Bluff Cottage, whether like us, for a romantic getaway if you live in town and just want to get away from the kids and pets at home for some relaxing grownup time, on your wedding night, or travelers visiting historical Montgomery. Please give them a chance to share their lovely home with you, whatever your occasion. We loved it and are sure you will too.

Montgomery Jewel - "In our Alabama journeys, we stumbled upon Red Bluff Cottage Bed & Breakfast, and what a treasure we found. Upon arrival, a beautiful gray cat named Mr. White Sox welcomed us. He also acts as the official security guard of proprietors Barry and Bonnie Ponstein. We were fortunate to arrive on a day when Bonnie was baking (which she often does) and the B&B was filled with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked scones. The fresh cut flowers in our beautifully appointed room made us feel really special and so alive. After we settled in, we returned to the common area upstairs where Bonnie served some of the delectable treats we had longed for earlier along with a perfect cup of tea. The home was spotless yet comfortable and very cozy. We could not resist cuddling on the sofa and watching a vintage movie in the library -- we had truly stepped back to a quieter and more peaceful time.

The next morning the breakfast was scrumptious. Along with the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tea, we were served a parfait of layered Greek yogurt, lemon curd and fresh fruit. Then came a tasty quiche made without a crust, Southern-style hash brown potatoes, cinnamon sugar bacon, baked biscuits and muffins and more fresh fruit all served on beautiful china in the formal dining room. The proprietors were so informative on the area and brought so many new ideas of fun things to do while we were there that we decided to stay several days to take in the rich history and culture of an area often overlooked. Each morning thereafter, we were served a work-of-art breakfast that left us anything but hungry. When our stay came to an end and it came time for us to leave, we were sorry that we would not be able to continue tasting the tempting and creative breakfasts served to us each morning.

We absolutely loved our time staying at Red Bluff Cottage Bed & Breakfast, and it will live forever in our hearts as we relive the wonderful memories for years to come. We plan to return as often as we can to make more.”

Very nice owners/operators. Very clean. Nice, homey rooms, Access to WONDERFUL PORCH overlooking the valley and river; access to sitting room, tv room. Bonnie is most pleasant and easy to talk with; Barry will take care of every need, including bringing in your luggage! Why, oh why, stay at a overused, unclean motel when Red Bluff has competitive prices and a delicious home-cooked breakfast!

We had a wonderful time at Red Bluff Cottage! We're from the South and know how southerners should treat people. To say the least, Barry and Bonnie were the perfect hosts and took care of everything we needed. The house was very charming and beautiful, not to mention the swing on the front veranda was very relaxing! We plan to visit again!!!!

The Red Bluff Cottage was a perfect respite during our travels. Bonnie was accomodating in every way; from a special diabetic for my dad to making sure we had perfect sleeping arrangements with separate beds. Barry was an easy conversationalist, finding out Daddy's interests and contributing to comfortable discussions. Should we travel anywhere near Montgomery, Red Bluff Cottage will definitely be where we choose to stay. Thank you, Ponteins, for making us feel like forever friends.
