Owner description: This tribute to the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement" honors Rosa Parks, the African-American woman who, in 1955, sparked the civil rights movement by refusing to give her bus seat to a white man. The museum helps visitors relive this tumultuous era with a video, artifacts, historical documents, a lifesize statue of Rosa Parks and a replica of the bus in which she sat that day.

This Museum was OK nothing extra. They did have a simulated bus with version of events that lead up to Mrs. Parks arrest. There is a charge of about six dollars to see museum. You can go through museum in less than an hour unless you are really into this type of art. The gift store very high but like most other gift shops. Would not go again.

Great museum. The exhibit walked us through the events in a thought-provoking way...very glad we went. Highly recommended. A must see.

“Wonderful Museum!”
Reviewed September 30, 2011

We visited this museum last year, and what a great find! It's a small museum, but has a large amount of history and a great gift shop. The staff is friendly, and even offered us some tips of other historical places to visit in Montgomery (the city is full of it!). The bus display was great, but the best part to me was hearing these stories from the actual people who lived and survived such a trying time in country's history. They have plenty of historical items, and my favorite part was getting a picture with Mrs. Parks statue sitting in the back and the beautiful bust of her when you first walk in. Definitely worth a visit!

The time capsule bus was most effective as was the brochure which documented the events. The woman at the desk added much more

“A Must See in Montgomery”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Well worth the entry fee. Very nice exhibits throughout the museum. We especially liked the video reenactment of the bus incident--very well done!! Try to fit this in to your visit. Well worth it. They also have a nice gift shop with friendly staff.
