Where do I start? Arrived at the cafe with four people. The table was too small for the number of plates we had (I had the shrimp faitas and that was four total plates alone). The atmosphere doesn't seem very clean (dark and somewhat dingy). The floor was sticky around the table as if someone had spilled coke on the floor and didn't clean it up very well. The decor is spartan at best. I took all that out of my mind because I was told by a friend that they had great food. They brought tortilla chips and salsa to the table. They quickly brought more as we finished the first batch. Then the trouble. In one of the salsa bowls came this long strand of hair. Disgusting. I called one of the waitresses over and pointed this out. She said she would take it away. A minute later she came back with more salsa as if nothing had ever happened. Not even an "I'm sorry about that". This type of attitude gives the impression that cleanliness isn't very high on their list of priorities. The other consideration is why would I want more of the salsa that I know came from the same bowl with the hair? Absolutely no thought invested in what just happened.
The food came to the table quickly. The portions were of good size and tasted okay. My faitas arrived with only three tortia wraps. Considering the amount of food, you would think they would give you at least five.
The next odd jesture was about a quarter the way through eating, with the table loaded with plates, the waiter brought the bill. In my opinion, that is the ultimate in unprofessional food service. Considering there were ample seats available (only about a third of the cafe had customers), I don't understand why they would do such a thing.
Overall, I won't go back. For the price, the quality, the atmosphere, cleanliness, and professional service... I'd rather go to Tipo di Mexico off Taylor street.
