“A Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We had visited a Carnival Museum in New Orleans a few years ago and while it was nice, it is not of the caliber of the Museum in Mobile. Since there was no one else on our tour we essentially had a private tour with Mr. Roberts. He is extremely knowledgeable and the tour was a pleasure. The Museum and his commentary takes you into the real richness of Mardi Gras in Natchez, which by the way, began Mardi Gras before New Orleans This is absolutely a "don't miss".

“Mobile Carnival Museum”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

I spent an amazing afternoon at the Mobile Carnival Museum last week. The collection of gowns and trains is mind boggling. There were rooms of displays with different costumes, pictures, jewels and also videos of many of the coronations. This is well worth the $5.00 entrance fee and even my husband totally enjoyed it!

“Contrast of Mobile and New Orleans Carnival Museums”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

If you have gone through the Mardi Gras costume museum in New Orleans and you have the opportunity to do the same thing in Mobile, you owe it to yourself to do so. New Orleans' costumes are fun and crazy; whereas, Mobile's costumes are elegant and serious. Glad I went.

Fun! History of Mobile Mardi Gras! We own the title for the 1st Mardi Gras. New Orleans has nothing on Mobile.

“Excellent Museum!!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We had NO IDEA the Mardi Gras parades began in Mobile; always thought the tradition started in New Orleans. Found out differently after viewing the video!! Our guide, L. Craig Roberts, an established Mobile Architect, was witty & most knowledgeable on the history. The gowns, robes, crowns, etc were unbelievable! And to believe, mom & dad furnish all. Another point I liked, there is a black Queen & King each year along w/a white couple!! A most enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in Mobile!!
