This is a great way to get an overview of what Mardi Gras is and what it means to the city of Mobile. My cousin came for her first Mobile Mardi Gras last year and we began with a visit here and then a trip to Toomey's (to buy our masks, beads and boas, of course). That was perfect because by the time we began watched the parades she was a bit prepared for what Mardi Gras is all about here. The museum features many actual gowns and robes from previous Mardi Gras Queens, Kings and their courts. You can't imagine the detail and workmanship that go into these fabulous creations-you have to see them. Much of the history of Mardi Gras in Mobile is highlighted, and you will leave with a feel for the fun of the festivites. This is a not-to-be-missed attraction if you are coming to Mobile for Mardi Gras or just want to get a sense of what an important part of life Mardi Gras is for the residents and visitors of this area.
