I read the reviews for the Super 8 as I always do before I travel. I feel that some of the last reviews gave this hotel a "bum rap". The younger gentleman that checked me in was very pleasant. The management has obviously tried really, really hard to be a "step above". The amenities in the room include, shampoo, conditioner, box of kleenex, extra towels, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, mini fridge, microwave AND a nice big, comfy recliner chair that reclines to nearly lying flat. The room and linens were clean and fragrant. The breakfast had several choices and was more than enough. Yeah, the air conditioner is noisy...bring ear plugs....the watch dogs at the next-door business bark...turn on the air conditioner. : ) The location is great....three exits north from big shopping and multiple restaurants and 20 minutes from downtown Mobile via Sprinhill Road/98. I would go back and recommend that you check it out.

The owners of this motel are very nice and accomodating and the maid service was good and the motel itself is very clean but thats where it ends..Truckers are welcome at this motel but their trucks can be noisy at times. The pool area is behind the motel and the water never seemed to be clear and clean,,Also I ran into some seedy people that were stayin here..The continental breakfast area was clean and fresh but had a very small assortment of items. The rooms themselves were clean but the air conditioner was very loud,,and in this day and age this hotel still had tube tvs.We spent 7 days here to visit Mobile and other parts of Alabama We picked this motel to stay in because I read it was built 11/11,,Im not so sure that it was.It is however close to everything we needed to be by..I most likely would not stay here again if Im in the area...

Room Tip: Rooms have all outside entrances.Highway 98 is heavily traveled and it is sometimes hard to get in a...

The motel is FILTHY and run down. It is not run by Americans and they are very rude and not at all helpful. They lost our reservation and offered no apology. They offered a smoking room with smaller beds instead. When we declined, they said they had a jacuzzi room they would rent us, but only if we paid for all 3 nights up front (we wanted to try to stay just one night and see if we liked it). They refused to let us rent it for just a night. We looked at the room and it was filthy and smelled moldy. Needless to say, we did not stay here and would never think of recommending it to someone else. Stay away!

Dropped in here after driving to Mobile from Hattiesburg, MS, and were just looking for a quick stop over before heading on to the Emerald Coast. The Super 8 was the first that caught our eye. Outside, it looked like a newer facility. We've had horrible experiences with other Super 8's, but this one looked OK...WRONG!

Neighborhood: Bad. Few business around, fewer at night. Stopped at a Burger King drive through at 11:00PM just down the street and found our car nearly surrounded by a group of "undesirable youth" in an Escalade who were pointing at us the whole time.

Check in: OK, if you speak English as a 5th Language. "Weel-com to Supa 8." I may be hard of hearing, but my teenage son had trouble understanding the guy.

Room: Terrible. Bathroom light switch was inoperable until it was wiggled about ten times. Then the light flickered and came on. The TV would not turn on with the remote, and when it did the program menu came up and would not turn off. Then the TV would not shut off...we finally unplugged it.

The beds were worse than even most other Super 8's. Rock solid. Pillows were so thin I rolled up two in a case...luckily the wife and boys brought their own. The linens all smelled musty.

Pool: we didn't have the chance to use it, but it was extremely small. I wouldn't feel safe with more than two or three kids at a time in it, but the poolside area was well kept.

Check out: again, translator needed. Told the guy at the desk about our room problems and received a cold stare and a simple "so sorry, have good day".

For anyone staying in this area, get on Interstate 65 and go further into Mobile. Their are much better hotels minutes away in a far better area. Super 8 will no longer be on our list of travel options.

The hotel looks newly remodeled. Our room was nice for a hotel. The pool was nice, very nice. The breakfast was typical continental. The owner can seem a little mean but then be really nice. Look over him...He really is nice. It is conviently located and reasonably priced. We had no problems.

We called Hotels. Com to make early check-in for two rooms, 1-night and the CSR called hotel to confirm our situation. Reserved rooms and got there at 6:40am to a desk clerk who told U's we'd have to check out by noon! We disagreed - he told us manager in at 7am, when he arrived he said we would have to pay extra! I said fine how much and that we were exhausted his poopy attitude came back with "I'm tired too I have to work 7-days a week and come in with a headache!' he obviously does not respect women! Then he tells us we can't have a NS room because we smoke outside and then carry the smell in the room! So much for living in America Eh. So since the rooms are prepaid we paid the extra $29.50 he wanted and still had to listen to him complain about his 'strict' smoking policy, then he wanted me to tell him our check out time; to which I said for as long as we want because you made us pay extra! It took over an 1/2 hour to check in then we were made to sleep in smoking room and we don't smoke in our house!
Our room stank; there were paper tags under the bottom sheet and the pad wasn't flat and crinkled; pillows were FLAT and bed OLD.
This review could have been shorter but I don't swear on websites!
Bad hotel and even WORSE manager Dan!

Stayed here 4/28/2012. Room was clean. Microwave, mini fridge and everything else worked perfectly. The room even had a recliner chair that was very comfortable. Breakfast was what was expected of a continental type - cold cereal, waffles, some fruit, sweets and juices. Near the interstate. Not much around the hotel, but not too far to drive to where ever. Overall, very impressed, especially for this price range.

Room Tip: This is a two floor hotel. You may want to specify ground floor if needed.
