The Fort Conde Inn achieves very high regard from guests and visitors’ centres and we can understand why. Located in its own little ‘village’ in the City, beautifully Southern and a charming room, at a very good price, it met all we required ie parking, wifi, breakfast. The Deputy Manager could not have been more helpful and, albeit only recently appointed, gregariously strove to meet our every need. Great fun and thank you. Highly Recommended.

We stayed in the Antunez Carriage House Royal Suite and it would be our first choice again. We had the whole house to ourselves and loved it! The only thing we would change is to bring our own pillows because we both need additional support for our "old" necks. The bedding was awesome and loved the bath! We regret that we only took advantage of the breakfast one morning..we slept in the first one! Unbelievable service and food! It's not really convenient to walk to downtown shopping, but the drive is short and there is plenty of parking downtown. There is a very good selection of restaurants in Mobile. Fairhope is also a short drive and has a large but very quaint downtown shopping district.

I stayed in the carriage house one Saturday night for a wedding and can not think of anything I would change. The bed and comforter were amazing and each room is equipped with a keurig. Not to mention, the complimentary breakfast is delicious each morning. I would easily stay again.

When we stopped at the Mobile Visitor Center, we were told about the great B & Bs in Mobile. They phoned over to Fort Conde Inn and made all the arrangements for us. We were delightfully surprised by the beauty of the antebellum (which means pre civil war era - we had to look it up) mansion. We made ourselves right at home and were able to walk to other attractions in the area. The breakfast was, by far, the best of any we had on our vacation.

This is an overdue review. My husband stayed early summer for two nights. We played the Trent Jones Golf trail in the area and thought it would be a perfect in between location. Logistically it was perfect and experience wise it exceeded our expectations. Alan was very guest focused in acclimating us to both the inn and the Mobile area. Not only did Robbe provide delicious breakfast options but he also really knows the Mobile restaurant scene and made great recommendations. You have to stay here just to see how the Inn owner has turned around this historic area! See the "before" pictures by the dining room to get a full understanding of the work done and the loving care put in. The quality of reconstruction and décor (the wallpaper choices are wonderful) are noteworthy.

Room Tip: Each room honestly has its advantages. Talk with Alan when making reservations to discuss your crit...

I love this place! It was my second stay in the cottages. They are worth every penny. The staff treated me and my family/ guests like royalty. A friend arrived while I was out. A hotel member walked her over to my cottage, gave her a mimosa and entertained her until I returned. Great service with even better good! I will only stay here when in Mobile Alabama.

We arrived during a very bad afternoon thunderstorm. We parked out front, and while waiting for the rain to let up, the fire alarm went off. The manager, Alan, helped us in as other guests were hurriedly leaving their rooms. All of us were quickly moved to an adjacent building until the fire department could inspect and certify the building. alan did an incredible job of controlling the situation. Breakfast the next morning was very good, with the chef in personal contact. Can recommend the Fort Conde Inn.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Fort Conde Inn, Alabama's only 4-star, AAA four diamond rated boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, is a luxurious facility exuding the style and feel of nineteenth century Mobile. Requiring two years of meticulous workmanship, the Inn has now been restored to its original Victorian splendor. Built in 1836, the Fort Conde Inn (Hall-Ford House) is Mobile’s second oldest house and its interior and exterior finishes reflect its architectural vintage from original heart pine flooring and custom-milled stairways, moldings, and window and door trim to marble fireplace mantles, plaster walls, 12 foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The Fort Conde Inn, located in Mobile's historic Fort Conde Village, has recently expanded to include four newly restored hisorically certified homes: The Antunez House, the Spear-Barter House, as well as the Blakely and Gonzalez cottages. Walking into the Inn today, is like taking a step back in time to when these homes were originally built. The Inn sits on a quiet street in Fort Conde Village surrounded by Victorian homes restored with integrity and respect for their architectural heritage. It is situated adjacent to Fort Conde, a pre-revolutionary war fort built by the French in 1720 and named after the Prince of Conde, a grandson of Luis XIV. Mobile was founded by the French and the fort protected Mobile from incursions by the British. In recognition of the French heritage of this land, the rooms at the Inn have been named in French after friends and family members of the owner. ... more   less
