We loved Bellingrath Gardens-such a beautiful setting on the Fowl River. The Magnolia Classic Car show was a bonus to the gardens. Fort Conde is not to be missed, so well done and a capsule history of early Mobile. Dinner at the upscale restaurant in the Riverview Plaza Hotel restaurant with its great view of the waterfront was wonderful-excellent food.

We were very blessed to run into David, the care taker of the fort. He has a great vision for the uses of the fort to keep us educated in where we have come from to where we are going. He made us feel very special and went above and beyond. The fort has had flood damage from past hurricanes and exhibits are being restored.

For Conde is a well done replica of a portion of the original fort. There isn't an admission charge and the site is handicapped accessable.

We stopped in here walking around Mobile, and they were closing up around 4:30, very small fort area, not much to see. Didn't make it inside to the Welcome Center, maybe there was more in there.

Good place to start your Mobile visit. Staff is super friendly. Some nice history here. We met a volunteer guide who was a former chemical engineer and he was so much fun to talk with. SO much great info and advice.
