We came in town for an old crow medicine show at the saenger theater (which is a 5 minute walk away) and checked in around lunch. Check in was quick and easy. Our room had 2 nice queen beds, the lighting was nice, the mood was nice and the antiquity of the place was well preserved but at the same time had nice paint and seemed fresh. The courtyard in the center of the hotel is beautiful, w a fire pit, fountain and several tables to relax at. The beds were comfortable and the rooms have nice big thick curtains to keep the sun out. The air blew very cold in our room and also our friends room. The breakfast room was nice and opened up to a pool. Some people leave ridiculous reviews, like the one about the crack in the wall (which I didn't notice). This was a great hotel and, nothing against mobile, has more character for the same price than any other hotel in mobile...I have stayed in numerous hotels in my day. This is a smoking bargain...if you're not ridiculously meticulous or too wealthy to appreciate things anymore. -mike

Hey Mike,
Thanks for writing. It was fun hanging out with y'all after the Old Crow Medicine Show. Maybe next time I will be able to go to the show with y'all. It sounded like a real good time. Next time you are in Mobile don't hesitate to call.
Best

Family owned, beautiful inn. I will stay here every time I am in Mobile! Beautiful room, friendly staff. Jordan was very professional. Treat yourself and stay here, it's worth the money, you won't regret it, I promise!

Came to Mobile after New Orleans not expecting much but Mobile is a hidden gem, cool bars, great places to eat.

We tried the Holiday Inn, it looked lovely but not for us, expensive and corporate, but the Malaga was perfect.

Great service, super friendly and helpful staff, they gave us great advice on where to drink and eat (all 5 mins walk away) the hotel is a stones throw from all the great bars and restaurants.

Beautiful courtyard, free parking, a real taste of southern hospitality right in the middle of the cool places to hang out.

It felt like we were the only guests,
I would say it was the best hotel in our 10 day tour of the South, hands down.

After checking in found out Elvis stayed here, made our stay even better!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It means even more coming from a "senior contributor" such as yourself. Mobile really is a hidden gem as you say. We mobilians are so proud of our little city; we love hearing from tourists that have enjoyed it so well. I really enjoyed taking to y'all in the lobby. If you come back to the deep south I hope you will think of us. Thank you again for your review.
KIndest Regards

This place has character. We were told that two sisters lived in these homes, side by side, and decided to link them together to create a place for visitors. As someone has already mentioned, Michael Landon, Ronald Reagan, and others have visited this quaint Inn. They had just hosted a wedding in the courtyard when we arrived Saturday evening. We later met another couple at a local restaurant that were married there a few years ago, so it's a hot spot for nuptials. The room was comfortable and the decor was full of antiques. It was cozy and we liked it. Nothing looked especially new but it didn't really look like anything needed to be updated. It just fits together. The rotary phone was a classic. I did not check to see if it worked. It doesn't really matter anymore. If you want fresh decor with the latest amenities, this might not be your place. If you want comfort and Southern hospitality, this is the place.

Room Tip: They're all different and easily accessible. It seemed all had access to the courtyard which is a great attraction.

Thank you for your review. It is a very hot spot for nuptials. We host weddings here usually every Saturday during the spring. The rotary phone definitely works. You would think they would be obsolete by now but many hotels still use them. They are very convenient for calling room to room or to the lobby for assistance. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet but hopefully we will next time you come to town.
Until then our best wishes,
Jordan

And so did Bob Hope and others. You can see their pictures with the hotel's original owner in the lobby, Our room was comfortable and tastefully furnished in slightly period decor, but the best feature was the beautiful courtyard with a fountain. It is a lovely place to have breakfast or, I imagine, to lounge with coffee in the afternoon. The owner was very friendly and helpful. This is the perfect place if you want a comfort and also personality. It is not your generic cookie cutter hotel.

Room Tip: We liked the view from the fourth floor.

Yes ma'am Ronald Reagan indeed stayed here as well as Elvis Presley! I've also heard stories about Sunny and Cher partying down in the basement bar when it was open in the late 70's. We are very proud of the history of our property. Thank you so much for choosing us when you were passing through. Our business is unique and family run... Definitely not a cookie cutter hotel. Hopefully the next time you stay with us we can earn that extra point from you.
