This interesting & beautifully furnished early 1800s home was built to include bits of the old fort. Two of the city's original jail cells are part of the house (one became the kitchen). Another unusual feature- in one room they have include a glass section in the floor letting you see beneath to the early foundations. A great place for anyone interested in history or antiques, not for young children.

Two historians from the area guide you through this home and share details about the furniture, the lifestyle, and even a wedding dress that dates back 4-5 generations. It is a relatively small home (that used to be the town jail!) that is adjacent to the fort. I felt it was well worth the $10 admission.

Mobile played an important role in the American Revolution and in the Wat of 1812. This lovely museum tells the story of Mobile’s role in our Early Republic and presents true artifacts of that period. Both guides, Holly and Sarah, were interesting and knowledgeable. Seeing a genuine Rev War cannon on the front lawn was worth the price of admission. If you are an American patriot, your heart will thrill at this museum

The ladies (Franki and Sister) made this tour most informative and entertaining. The house was a former gaol turned into a functional 1830's antebellum home. Although not a large residence it's packed with period furniture and most relevant history. Small groups make this site visit fun and good value. Also all worth a drive tour of the historic neighborhoods of Mobile.

Both Marie and Sister were our guides. It just happened to be a day where you could tour for free. We did not have this discount. Both ladies worked very hard at greeting people and having them join tours already in progress. Marie greeted us at the door, she gave us the tour of the lower floor while continuing to answer the door and welcome everyone in. Sister was finishing up another group and she met us upstairs. Both ladies gave wonderful, informative tours. I highly recommend you visit this house if you enjoy history, architecture or antiques. But just so you know ... none of the clocks function.

Loved the tour! The ladies were very friendly and knowledgeable about the information of the house. The structure of the house is very unique and has some great pieces different than other historic homes and meuseums. Would recommend!

Sarah was a truly amazing guide, humorous and detailed explanation of the first floor and grounds. I hope to be able to retain all the information this octogenarian gave us about the little gem of a museum. Holly took us through the second level of the house and also mesmerized us with the history of the home. It was a delightful visit!

Dear Susan Z,
We are tickled you had such a good visit at the Conde-Charlotte Museum. You had the honor of touring with our oldest docent and our youngest docent. The both know their stuff, though!
