Visiting forts or military related sites is usually not my thing. However I was compelled by the USS Alabama's historic significance. And I was so glad I visited it. The bones of this great ship are impressive and it is amazing how huge it is. I was reminded of the service and sacrifice made by so many in the Lost Generation. I am grateful that this ship made it on the list of National Historic Landmarks. Ladies wear flats- no heels of any kind. Also would advise against skirts, dresses, maxi dresses as a lot of stair climbing & high stepping is involved. BTW, ate at Felix's Fish Camp Grill for lunch which is conveniently located right down the road.
