“Worth the time for a side trip into American History.”

Climb aboard a real battleship and take a trip back into the WWII for what life was like on the sea.

Now to be sure I'm not claustrophobic but going down to the engine rooms made me a little uncomfortable.

One of the really unique things is that you can actually see what happened under the cannons with a cutaway section.

After climbing steps and stepping out onto the deck you'll still have plenty to see when you go through an aircraft museum that includes an SR71 Blackbird.

Afterwards check out the submarine.

“Nice location”

We went on a private visit and reception. Excellent location and self-tour was easy. Easy to get to it and great restaurants nearby.

“Easily the coolest thing in mobile.”

My wife and I were traveling through the area and decided to check out the battleship. I was extremely impressed with the self guided tour. The ship has been well maintained and is awe-inspiring up close. It is definitely worth the admission price and all the people I saw seemed to really be enjoying it. Children especially would love this

“Permission to climb aboard: USS Alabama”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

I am not a huge military buff, however my husband is very into WWII so I have been to many museums etc over the years. This is one of the most amazing things we have been to. Even if you aren't a fan, there is so much to see, the scale of the Alabama is huge! There are several easily mapped out tours on board (marked on the floor with bright paint) and they correspond with tour maps posted on deck. It's easy to navigate, our only regret is we didn't leave ourselves enough time to spend here. There is also a huge aircraft hanger and the USS Drum (a submarine) to also look through. Great value for money and you could easily spend a day out here. We blogged about the Alabama, so if you want more info or to see some photos they are here: http://2012-a-travel-odyssey.tumblr.com/

“Mandatory, even for non military fans!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

It was one the best attractions of our 2 weeks trip through Florida, Alabama and Louisiania. Well maintened facilities. A very strong vibe from the past history of the ship. Original settings with made up seems from the battleship routine. A great place for kids.
