“HAS POTENTIAL, BUT IS ALMOST DESERTED IN MANY PARTS”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

This should be a good destination. The problem is that most of the shops and stores, including restaurants, are closed and boarded up. There are a few exceptions and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a beautiful church, is one of the exceptions. Truly disappointing because this street is like so many others in Mobile, virtually deserted much of the time.

“needs help”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

many closed shops and restaurants -- economically depressed, creates a negative overall impression. Pretty much deserted until evening.

“Beautiful area needs more interesting shops.”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Dauphin St is a very historic area in downtown Mobile. There are some very good restaurants located there for lunch and dinner. It needs more shops to keep tourists interested during the day and early evening. Nice area for photography. An old theater for symphonies and performances. An old cinema that shows independent films with a glass of wine. Some music venues are there. A few galleries, nice book store and candy stores. Bienville Square and Cathedral Square are nice for strolling during the day. Weekend nights are crowded due to bars and music clubs. More security needed at night.

“A nice place to eat lunch sitting outside”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

It is a short street, but you can find a lot of place to eat and hang out. It is the place to be in the evening, although it is mainly lively during the weekend.
It is very nice also for lunch, you can eat even outside which is quite unusual.
