I booked this hotel following the reviews in trip advisor. The hotel emailed me 2 days or so before my due date confirming everything once again, and sent me another e-mail thanking me for staying with them two days later. Nice touch!
The hotel is clean, the lobby is spacious, the rooms are a decent size. The room we stayed had a view of the straits of Melaka, I asked for a room as high as possible and quiet and got the room on the 9th floor. The room was indeed quiet. We slept well.
The breakfast is very comprehensive, they also provided enough items that being vegetarian i had no problems eating well. It sets you up for the day, dont bother with lunch! They also have freshly made cucumber juice (great in the heat), celery juice, tomato juice and something else, all available as part of the breakfast. They had cook to order omelettes and noodles (for non veggies).
There is a selection of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Western options for breakfast, if you go early enough you can get a seat on the terrace, which gives you a view of the straits. Theres lots of reclamation work being done in the area, however we did not have any noise pollution.
The hotel is opposite the busy road, which you can cross to get you into the Mahkota shopping mall, which also leads into town and the main sights, there is a a free shuttle service operated by the hotel which ferries you across the road should you be afraid to walk it. It drops you in two locations, one near the hotel and another just a little bit further. Make sure you book your seat with the concierge and confirm your pick up time as well. We sometimes just walked and mostly we asked to be dropped off and then we walked back to the hotel.
The hotel is in a good location for any 1st time tourist in particular, you can walk to all the main sites easily. The main center of Melaka isnt too big so its easy to get around, The concierge can provide you with a little map, which we found helpful. Just ask them.
Overall I would be happy to stay here again. The hotel was great and the staff were even better.
