Waterworld was not quite as good as I expected but I still had a good time. It is clearly aimed towards a younger audience. The price is a little high and it is only accessible by taxi so probably not worth the money.

I read the review from TRIP ADVISOR before I went.

I thought the reviews were to critical but I believed it.

After visiting on 7 Dec2011, confirmed that all review in trip advisor are truth.

Water slides were old and poorly maintained. Toilets are real nightmare.
Rides are dangerous and accident prone due to the crack tiles.

Services rendered from theme park staff are low.

(Golf club house)
Even at the club house , toilets were in bad shape.
Cafe at the golf club was dull and poor quality of food.
Staff mending the golf course were not serious in their job.
Skip golfing here altogether.

I hope the owner of the development will see that his investment is at great risk, save it now.

A'Famosa is a vast entertainment complex with golf, a safari park, a wildwest town and this the water park.
it's about a thirty minute drive from the centre of Melaka.
We joined the queue to pay at the water park and there wee maybe 12 people in front of us. it took about 20 minutes to get to the front of the queue only to be told we were in the rong queue. There is one queue for foreigners which did not move the whole time we were there was a big group of Arabs who were causing a scene. There was a queue for Locals and Singaporeans, and an Unmarked Queue (ours). So, instead of helping us after our long wait we were just ushered away and made to queue all over again behind the haggling Arabs.
Eventually the very slow and unhelpful staff sold us five tickets, the whole process is frankly rubbish and actually annoying, it's too hot to just stand in a queue!
This was actually our second visit to the park, but this time we had two guests from England with us. Oh and that's a whole other thing is your group consists of locals and foreigners, you need to queue up separately.
This being a Saturday the place once we got inside was packed and at GB£8 a head they must be taking a shedload of money. Sadly, as I have seen so many times before by locally owned a d run hospitality places the money taken does not seen to filter back through to the system to be used for maintenance and improvements.
The lazy river had become the murky still water channel, no more does your rubber ring (which you now have to pay for) float with the water flow as you relax in the sunshine. To move you had to paddle and frankly the tiles around the place were filthy, I don't think that water was very clean!
The wtarer slides etc all seemed fine but the wave pool seems to have lost 50% of it's power since our last visit leading to a much less fun experience.
The changing rooms are a mess. It's a huge site yet the mens and womens changing rooms and lockers are cramped together.
they started the day dirty and throughout it they just got wetter and more smelly with no ongoing cleaners to keep any degree of freshness about the place. Sadly it's a cultural thing as you will see if you visit a public toilet in Malaysia! No 'normal' person would willingly use the bathrooms, they are wet and dirty and of course the wonderfully adventurous squat toilets where clean freaks would die as they all use the same hose pipe to wash you rear and all stand in the same fecal puddle, nice not. Our friends from England were simply appalled and of course by the end of the day the bathrooms stunk.
The whole site needs a proper Facilities Manager with a budget. Otherwise, A'famosa Water Park will continue to only seen popular with locals who don't seem to feel the same way about cleanliness as Europeans or Americans. It can be saved but leave it much longer and it will be beyond help.
Again I feel that sad that hospitality and cleanliness still on the whole seemed to have missed much of Malaysia.

It's a nice place if there are young kids around. I would suggest if you have 2-4 families going, to rent their bungalows. They come with a private pool and trust me the kids would love love them. The theme parks around are pretty pricey - so budget enough for the kids and maybe 1 or 2 adults. Take a drive into Malacca town to enjoy some food and maybe highlights like Jonker Walk (only on weekends tho).
