“Clean, affordable and conveniently located”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Stayed one night at the Mimosa Hotel. Service was good, the front counter were friendly and very pleasant. The hotel provides free wifi- which was brilliant. Showers and rooms were basic, but clean.

The hotel is conveniently located near Jonker Walk, a mere 5-10 minute walk away. The hotel breakfast wasn't fantastic though. I'd save my stomach space and eat at the many food places in town.

Stayed here for 3 nights in one of the executive rooms. We had no problems with the hot water as noted by other people and because we were on holidays we were often not getting up until 9am and there was still plenty of hot water. A/C worked well and breakfast had a good selection. Like any hotel some staff members were more helpful and others. When we check out they were happy to ring a taxi for us and give us each a bottle of drinking water.
China town and Little India both in walking distances.
Would be happy to stay again

Stay for 1 night at the Executive Room. The room are clean, beds are comfortable but the air cond is not cold enough, need to on till the maximum speed and lowest temperature. This hotel have a very good location as few of the famous food stalls (蚵煎&鲜蛤) just within working distance. As for breakfast just average, they need to improve the ventilation of the coffee house and the cleanliness of folks & spoons.

This is a great mid-range hotel for anyone visiting Melaka. We stayed in an executive room, which - at RM248 - I thought was excellent value. It was spotlessly clean, a good size (plenty of room to put down our blow-up mattress for our toddler) and had a lovely bathroom with bathtub. The aircon was great after a hot day's sightseeing in Melaka, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was included - fairly basic but completely fine (cereals, toast, fresh fruit and some hot dishes).

A big plus for this hotel is it's location - an easy 10 min walk straight down the road to the historical centre, or a very pleasant stroll down the river (only slightly longer) to China Town. It also has its own car park.

A recommended and comfortable place to stay within easy distance of all the attractions.

Just returned from a trip to Melaka today and stayed in this place. My family of 4 booked the family room / suite and it was rather large. There was enough space for an extra bed. The decor was minimal - two queen sized beds, a mini bar, a large couch, a small sofa seat, tiny flat screen television which didn't have many channels and it wasn't too clear, a large bathroom with short shower curtains and the floor floods easily, a closet and a dresser with a mini bar attached to it. It was pleasant at first until the first night, I was seated on the small sofa seat and heard a buzzing in my ear. Thinking it was a mosquito, I swiped at my ear and the air around me. Little did I know, the room was actually infested with insects of some sort and tiny cockroaches. Sick. Had to wake my tired dad up to catch them!! They were found around the dresser and mini bar, some even crawled into the mini fridge. Terrible!! The beds were generally fine although my mother complained of itchy bites from her bed. Didn't have any issues with mine. It's not as hard as I thought. In fact, it was soft enough for my sister to feel my tossing on one side of the bed. There was plenty of hot water to go around but run the water for at least five minutes before stepping into the shower.

Breakfast was average, don't expect a sumptuous spread for a hotel like this. They have two types of fruits served at breakfast: watermelon and honeydew. On top of that, they serve kway teow and sambal fried rice (not too bad), eggs, sausages (halal of course), baked beans, two kinds of cereal (honey stars and regular cornflakes), porridge and noodles with soup. That was breakfast on Saturday. Sunday's spread was similar except that they had curry noodles and nasi lemak. It's a buffet so eat all you like but I suggest saving space for all the other delicious food you can find in the area.

The staff I encountered we're generally unfriendly, unapproachable looking and never did smile. The indian lady who attended to us when we checked out was the only exception. She was rather nice. I think their staff needs to smile a lot more.

There is an open-air carpark next to the hotel and has 24 hour security guard(s) on duty. No issues at all with the carpark and it's good for those driving in to Melaka.

Location wise, it's not secluded and hence, it's quite safe in my opinion and close to the Melaka River and Jonker Walk. It's also close to a couple of famous food places.

If you're looking for somewhere to rest your tired sunburnt self after a day of exploration, I think Mimosa is worth a shot. They do need to step up on their cleanliness and attitude. I would return to this place on the next trip but it's really, nothing to rave about.

At the price we paid, this establishment offers rather decent accommodation. I find the staff friendly enough to get their job done, the place looks clean and reasonably well maintained. Plus it is rather near to quite a number of tourist places. Few things to note though: 1. The beds are rather hard. I woke up in the wee hours feeling like i had slept on a piece of plank. 2. Bath in the early morning before everyone use up the reservoir if hot water is something that you need. 3. Soundproofing is not that great between rooms, i can hear our family talking next door but content of the conversation is not that clear.
