My expectations were sky-high after all the dazzling reviews. So after visiting, I thought it was very good but nowhere near Melaka's best attractions.
First things first, you don't have to pay extra for a guide, the collection is beautiful and you can take many photos. Having however visited the more superior Penang Peranakan Museum, I thought for the price, there were too few things to see. We were out of here in thirty minutes. I also feel that we didn't really learn many new things here.
I would still recommend this place but keep your expectations lower.

This museum is housed in a heritage building on the same road as the Baba & Nyonya Museum. As well as the jewellery and furniture display, we learnt about the Peranakan culture. There is also a nice collection of shoes and porcelain on display. A must visit if in the area.

This museum shows a house belonging to a wealthy woman who lived in Melaka and the collection is really impressive! You´ll find original pieces of furniture longing to her as well as her clothes and jewelry, so interesting. It´s really worthy a visit!

They have some very nice items in here. My wife and friend took far too long in this shop snapping up some lovely earrings and necklaces for themselves. A great place to buy gifts in lieu of tacky souvenirs. Great prices and helpful without being pushy owner.

This museum is slightly located behind the main Jonker street, slight off the beaten path but was the best sight-see I had with my friends during our recent visit there.

As we were students so the ticket price was just RM10 and we discovered that it's much more than just a jewellery museum!
The museum size is just nice for a tour of 30 + minutes but we lasted an hour inside as we were warmly welcome by their guide Wendy and she told us a lot of baba nyonya stories of the antique collection there.
The museum was generous enough for us take many pictures and even allowed us to 'experience' the baba nyonya lifestyle by letting us posing sitting on the dining table!

I definitely recommend this museum for tourists who wanted to learn about the baba nyonya heritage.

We visited this museum in the morning and said “yes” to having a guide and she was awesome. It made such a difference to our visit as we got to understand so much more. The jewellery upstairs is incredible.

We found this place by chance. For RN15 each it was a bargain. To be honest the jewellery was a minor part of the house. The real joy was seeing thw structurw of the house and the furniture.

No guide was offered to us (see some other reviews), so more information would of helped but it was very enjoyable none the less

Eva was an excellent tour guide, she really knew the finer details of the contents of this museum. We found it utterly fascinating and being left to soak it all in rather than rushed through a particular series of displays was much appreciated.

This splits into two with an opportunity to wander through an affluent Chinese house with the rooms largely as they were and the opportunity to view Chinese jewellery of the early 20th century.
This makes a visit here a real pleasure. It was relaxed and no restriction on photos.
The jewellery is fascinating and spectacular and I enjoyed the matching to old photos. It provided proper context.
Well worth a visit.

This place consists of several parts of the display, and presented based on various types of jewelry that is well preserved to date. As a strategic location between countries in the past, and now, in this place proves several phases of life that evidenced by various kinds of artifacts, especially related to the side of jewelry, including the collection of clothing they have. This is where we see the traditions of the past, and as one side of the city of Melaka.
