I booked Food Tourism House because, as someone who loves Malaysian food, I wanted to learn to cook some dishes. Before arriving Mr. Os sent me a list and description of the 7 dishes I would be cooking. When I arrived at their home, it was clear that Mr. Os's wife had spent considerable time preparing the food for the workshop so that we would be able to cook all 7 dishes in the alloted time. Onions and potatoes were peeled, other foods were cut and ready to go. All was lined up in bowls and dishes in the quantities needed for each dish. Although I am a Canadian I speak Malay and asked that instruction be given in Malay so that I could learn new vocabulary in a practical context. My wish was accommodated. As we proceeded through each dish it was clear that the order of instruction had been well thought out. It was an extremely efficient class. We sat down to a magnificent lunch and I was sent back to my hotel with 4 dishes in containers so that I could continue to enjoy the food we had prepared. Very quickly Mr. Os provided a link to all the recipes which are very clearly written in English.
Such a nice homestay in Melaka. This is the first time me and my wife stay in a quiet, green and lovely place like this. The home is near Melaka Sentral, very easy to travel to other place of Melaka. Also the neighborhood has lots of cats, trees, great for a nature-lover like me. But maybe the most special things that I will always remember is the cooking class of Mr.Oz's wife. She cooks with all her hearts ,I love Malay food so much after attending the cooking class here.
When i remember the time i visited Malaysia, my stay with Mr.Oz family and other friends couple from Japan and Canada is my most memorable time. Me and my husband stay with 2 other couples in a nice house near Melaka river. The air is tranquil and everything in the house is very neat and clean.
In the weekend, we are taken to the traditional kampung village near our homestay by Mr.Oz. He showed us the way local people live just like a professional guide. We learned a lot from him and we are happy that we can explore an aspect of Melaka life in a very local way.
After that, Mr.Oz drive us to his home and we together attend cooking class of Mr.Oz'wife. I was very impressed by the way she cooked and she is really good at giving demonstration about all spicy of different dishes. We learned 8 dishes and after 2 hours we can eat together a big feast. This must be the best food I have ever eaten in Malaysia. All the spicy and ingredients is fresh and prepared by Mr.Oz'wife. The cooking class is so perfect and I highly recommend this to all food-lover.
You should go to Melaka, feel the fresh nature and indulge in best homemade cuisine in this cooking class here!
Definitely the best place to stay on Melaka and the best homestay of our lifes :) Os, his smily wife and his helpful son were amazing. They are so welcoming, kind and always doing their best to make their guests feel 100% happy. We were there for 3 nights, took an awesome cooking class (almost 9 dishes + leftovers), visited some Malay villages and went downtown (by bus or walk). We were there on my boyfriend's birthdate. Os and his wife surprised us a lot with a big delicious homemade cake, candles, dishes and even some presents! Thank you so much again for this experience, for meeting you and being like a part of your family!! We will never forget and hope to see you again! Wish you all the best, Véronique and Alexis xxx

It was my second stay in Os' place. He owns a new house near the Central Bus Station (which is very convenient) so I can just walk along the river, cross a bridge, and there it was the house, very easy to locate (though in dry season, the breeze can be very hot).
The room is nice for sleep, clean, and most importantly, Os' son is very helpful. I didnt meet Os and his wife on my second stay, so I missed out on the cooking class (what a shame). But I've tried their breakfast before and it is very good :)
I stay here two nights, & i get the best Malay and Arab cuisine with the best services. so you should try it
Food was excellent and the family are generally warm and friendly. OS were fantastic guy who knows how to cook. I would recommend him to my friends
