“Melaka Local Flea Market”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Jonker Street is Melaka's local flea market. It is situated right in the prime area near the Melaka River where one can opt for a river cruise in the evening. You can start your day in the morining taking a leisurely stroll along its narrow street. The name itself is Dutch in origin. There are lots of ancient buildings and antique shops to browse around.Local food abounds everywhere. The street is about half a mile long and there is everything for the young and old.It is busiest during the weekend where the street is closed to traffic.tThe atmosphere at night is alluring to tourist making it a must for tourists. There are a few good spots for drinks where you can enjoy the music and songs by local singers and bands. The night goes on until early morning. If you have not here then you have not REALLY been to Melaka! Shopping here is done after a lot of haggling and bargaining. There are lots of bargain hotels and foot spas too.

“Back in time”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I love this place - busy bustling, no cheaters at tourists - locals and tourists pay the same prices and most importantly, the food is authentic.

Got to watch out for traffic in the afternoon but after 7pm, the walk is close to vehicles and it is just wonderful. A mixture of Peranakan culture true blue!

“Colourful street”
Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

A colourful Chinese street filled with different shops in the old Chinese building styles. There is lots of souvenirs to buy and a few coffee shops with air con/fans to retreat from the hot Malayan sun. Search for the temples they are also very nice!
