The soul of this old street is long gone. An example of lousy tourism. Cannot understand what qualifies Jonker Walk as a Unesco World Heritage.

This street is hopping with people selling all sorts of fun & strange stuff every Friday & Saturday night. They also have a few performances by Chinese musicians, magicians, & lots of fun & unique foods & drinks for sale. Have a look at some of the Chinese clan houses which are full of young & old Chinese playing traditional instruments. Very interesting & entertaining.

This is a very busy street, emphasis on busy and many times you are 'forced' off the footpath onto the road. Nonetheless there is lots to see, smell and experience. There are the usual touristy things to buy, food stalls - selling hot sauces, peanuts, coconut jelly and hot snacks, restaurants, 'antique' shops, clothing and even a coffin shop. There are lots of historical buildings and you get a reasonable sense of the chaos of street life. It would be great to see the authority make the area foot traffic only.

Since jonker walk quite famous, they should take care of the hygiene of the alley. its smelly, the price sell is almost the same at the other place.

History, culture, shopping, food - everything that you desire for holiday all on the Jonker St and the parallel Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. They are within a good walking compound, easy even if you have young children or just want a relaxing stroll.

We spent two good days eating, shopping, enjoying the buildings, the sights and sound.Worth a return visit.
