Make time to visit the "Jonker Gallery" stores, they have really nice and eclectic items and clothing for sale. There's also a locally owned hand-made chocolatier where you can also make your own sweets, They also have sugar free chocolates that taste great. Jonker street shops closes at 6pm on weekdays but stay open until late on weekends.

Jonker street was great wandering along looking at street stalls and checking out the really old buildings, you could buy hot food and they even had someone selling fairy floss. We stopped at one of bars with outdoor seating and had a cold drink, as it was very hot walking around the market. l got a mobile cover for my phone very cheap and they had lots of stalls with some thing for everyone.

This weekend market is really happening on a Saturday thus it is highly recommended to be there to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy bargaining and all the local street food

Jonker Street is full of antiques, shops, trinket stores, food stores, specialty cake shops, old run down beautiful buildings, bikes resting against peeling walls... It's a part of Melaka Chinatown and I feel is a must when in Melaka, if even just to see the buildings.
A nice place for a stroll and some photo opportunities, as well as Malay souveneers and the pinapple tarts made in Melaka.

for malaysian, its just another pasar malam with less food more rubbish ornaments ( which is more likely good souveniers for non-malaysian) , price can bargain, long long walk, there is river cruise beside it,
