“Steeped in History”

The most amazing thing about this ancient Portuguese Fort is that it is free to visit. There really should be a small charge for the maintenance of such a historically significant site. The most interesting feature for me being of Dutch heritage were the old Dutch inscribed gravestones that line a room at the top of the fort. Brochures with detailed info' about the fort available on site would have been great!

“Shame this is all that's left”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

A great bit of history but not much to see on it's own. But when taken as part of the wider surrounds, this is a must visit area. The fort (gate) is at the bottom of the hill that St Pauls Church is on, the Islamic museum is just to the left and the Sultanate Palace is just to the right. Put this on your list of things to do in Malacca.

“Cool, too bad so little survived”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is definitely a cool piece of old colonial history. Too bad this is all that's left of this once magnificent fort. If Thomas Raffles hadn't written a letter when he did, even this wouldn't be here.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Went there with a few friends and went around and there is really nothing much left of this place to see but then it was also during art and performance festival in Melaka which majorly took place there and there were a few awesome performances.
