Chinatown aka Jonker Street, It's just a pasar malam only. There are better pasar malam in Melaka which you can visit if you ask local there.

Ok Malacca didn't really have that much of an attraction apart from its oldtown, there are few gems of temples scattered around but to walk is a bit of a pain. In this part of the town or the Chinatown, i went to a Peranakan looking mansion restaurant painted in red (i couldn't recall the name) to have lunch, and it was actually quiet nice. After lunch you can roam around the house and have a good insight of the architecture, that's really lovely. Afterwards just walk around and go inside a few temples around the corner of the street, happy exploring! If you like to eat, there's a bunch of cafes you could totally try out, and i would definitely give the gift(junk)shop a miss, the souvenir sold aren't really worth to brought back home.

Yes jonker street or chinatown is a most favorite tourist destination in Melaka. If you come on weekend you can explore this area during Jonker Night Market. But visiting Jonker in the noon is a good option. We can find many of ice durian sellers and also we can buy lot of melaka's souvenirs.

firstly, most people call the jonker street area china town. which is not correct. that area is more a baby nyonya area. the "real" china town is in jalan bukit cina. and if you have been to china towns in other parts of the world this one is not going to impress you. but don't be to quick to judge it a non visiting zone. if you do like curiosa and want to buy something small or big to bring back home, china town could be a much better place to pick up a bargain than jonker street area where most antique shops are a bit overprised.

Yes there are some nice old shops but a lot are either closed down or not open or selling the same stuff if you need to loose an hour then wander round but generally disappointing
