Tip: 1 day is enough to visit Melaka.
Cons: tourist trap, crappy stuff, pricey.
Pros: some nice temples and architecture, good Nonya restaurants (check my review and pics for Nancys).
Basicly there are 4 or 5 streets that you can visit in a couple of hours. Check the temples and try Nonya food. Nancys is very good.

“More Robust An Identity Would Be Good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Chinatown. Not distinctly characterised. A mere road of shops operated by chinese merchants. The din and colour of crowds of chinamen are conspicously missing.

The vast chinese community is already spreadout all over the city there isn't an obvious and overwhelming concentration of chinese and chinese enterprise to justify the caption 'Chinatown', There is completely no hustle. And there is even lesser bustle.

Still, this is Malacca's Chinatown. Maybe it comes alive during the Chinese New Year festivities. But for now, it far from being "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream". More than "Much Ado About Nothing" but somewhat short of "As You Like It"

That said, do go visit. As you add to the crowd, whatever your race, you add to the feel of Chinatown.

“Nice to amble about for an afternoon.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

I really enjoyed getting lost around the streets in the afternoon. Even though it's really touristy I found the locals helpful and nice when I got a bit lost and needed to find my way back. Lots of nice pictures to take:O)

“Why Cars”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

Chinatown could be such a wonderful attraction,if only the authorities would bite the bullet and ban cars from those small streets, it is not possible to appreciate the street scape when it is lined with bumper to bumper Malaysian cars. Looking into their windows a walking tour would not do them any harm and foreign tourists may stay even longer.
