Stayed in their Deluxe room and comes complete with jacuzzi and rain shower. Room decor was excellent and homely with built in kitchenette where I could heat food for my young children and do a little light cooking.
Location ideal, not traped in the weekend traffic jams that seems to last the entire day. Within walking distance to historical sites.
Will definately return for future stays.

We were a group of 40 with young and old and took more than 20 rooms in the hotel for our night in Malacca.

The hotel was sold as a 4* hotel but it's definitely far from it.
The staff was unfriendly, us checking in was like a bother to them.
The rooms had stains, different types of stains, some door latches were broken, some air-con didn't work and most rooms smelled.

An incident stood out.
We had an elderly couple whose room lights fuse burned and the room was pitch dark when we returned to the hotel at about 10.30pm. We called for help and a guy from maintenance came to try to fix the problem. Problem wasn't solved after half an hour, I called reception to ask if they can switch room & the reply was, " fully booked, they have to stay in the same room. Anyway so late already, just go to sleep" !!!!!!!!
I was dumb-founded, shocked into not knowing how to reply to that ....
We were lucky the problem did get solved eventually and the lights came back.

I definitely won't go back for a second visit and won't miss it.

Although I was told that this hotel isn't that great, I stayed there twice this year. And, I did enjoy my stay! The rooms I stayed in were spacious and clean and the location is not bad at all.

The cafe there didn't provide good service though. The staff was not flexible and didn't seem to know her menu well.

been more than 10 years since i last visited melaka...lots have change...hardly can one c kampong houses at melaka town...so much high rise buidling...

anyways,i will be going down there often so gonna try each one of the 4 star hotel there...

so here is the first one...

bayview hotel melaka..

exterioe doent look as grand or inviting as its next door neighbour,Renaissance...not vey tall builing..juz 14 storey high...i took the only room that as a jacuzzi tub in the hotel..a deluxe room..other type of room dont have a jacuzzi tub...so since im a fan of jacuzzi tub so i took the room..paid rm397.50...
room located at the highest floor...

view is splendid..managed to catch the sunset....can c te straights of melaka from my room...room is big enugh so if there are more than 2 adults, one can ask for another bed of juz bring ure own inflatable bed...

not much to say abt the room...none of the furniture took my breat away..simple otel furnishing...o btw, check out the liquour set when u enter the room..i check mine and surprised to c 2 small bottle of jack daniel already open and tape back...warn the front desk or else they might charge u eventhou it wasnt u who drank it...

room service is bad..food not nice and for a prawn noodle they carge u rm14++...if u wanna buy food, there is a alleyway juz next to the carpack..food and burger there is fantastic...juz buy and bring back...
tap water there has a yellowish colour to it esp if u juz check in...i was told pple hardly stay on that floor cause the room is expensive so dont suggest to drink the tap water there....drink bottle water is safer....

the best part abt the room is jacuzzi and the service....
oh and te rainforest shower head..my bath time has never been refreshing up thill then....everytime i ask for anytg from front desk, they will kol and check if the problem has been fixed...
service by te staff is good for me for this trip....

Malacca is a pleasant surprise, a wonderful experience. Yes, even for just an over night stop to this charming city. Sadly, City Bayview Hotel does'nt stack well in making a pleasant overall impression.
We checked-in at past 3pm after a quick tour of historical places. The hotel looked alright from the outside. Modern. Clean. Upon entering, its a bit disorienting with their main reception hidden on the right side. Not a warm welcome. Checkin was a breeze. Don't request for a non-smoking room (or floor). They don't have any. Oh, most two beds in a room. I asked our lady receptionist for one. They can join - and she radioed ahead.
We decided for a quick bite in its small cafe in front of the receptionist. Poor attendant, she maybe smiling at us all throughout but be ready to wait. She is the cashier, server, cook and cleaner. The waffles we ate.. tummy filler.
Off to the room... this is where it goes downhill. Out of the elevator, there is a distinct smell - a rare combination of medicinal ointment, cigar and musty-old. Hmmm. The room was spacious (unjoined bed-see above request) a bit dark, considering we face an unobstructed view. Aircon not turned on and smell stuffy with that hint of cigar. Called housekeeping who graciously sprayed the room with a sweet smelling pine to hide the odour.
The bathroom was spotless... Erm, double turn (and see photo). Is that some dried pee on the urinal? Yes, it is. Another frantic call to housekeeping. Oh and how she cleaned it was the piece-de-resistance. Wiped it all over the cover and then a wet one. One more dash of pine scent. Needless to state, we requested for another room. And you wonder how the areas of the room were cleaned.
That just made our 'likability' of this hotel mark plummeting down below zero into negative territory... and it stays there. Never again.

A very nice hotel indeed. The modern and contemporary decor is beautiful and it look very high class indeed. The room was big and the bed & pillow was nicely fluffed. Worth of your money though it may a bit expensive if you are on a budget.

We stayed in the City Bayview Hotel, Melaka on from the 16 - 17 June 2007. We booked the hotel through our Singapore Travel Agent as a package for our group of 12.

The check-in procedures was done very quickly. All the rooms were arranged as requested by us (twin, extra bed etc). The front desk staff and the porter were very friendly. Always with a smile.

We stayed in the standard Superior Room and everything was fine. Nothing was faulty in all the five rooms we booked. Everything was clean and tidy.

Breakfast was as usual.. Sausages, Harsh Browns, Bread, Eggs etc. Breakfast is average.

Would stay in this hotel again and reccomend it to friends.
