First of all the staff were top notch. Helpful, smiling, warm, and accommodating.

Unfortunately, for all of the hard work put in by the front desk daytime staff, the room we were in was ridiculously noisy.

We could hear all of the comings-and-goings in the hallway, right down to hearing the cleaning person's mop sweeping across the floor.

Things only got worse at night as there is an alarm on every door that goes off if the person entering does not put it in the slot that turns on the power almost immediately.

Having already been woken up several times to the alarm, was further woken at 4AM to people coming back from the clubs walking and talking very loudly. This meant another 2.5 hours of sleep until the first people woke up in the morning.

This aspect alone means I cannot ever see myself going back to this hotel nor being able to recommend it, even as a last-chance (wait another time if this is the only hotel available).

It really is too bad as the efforts of the great daytime staff are more than offset by a poorly sound-insulated room.

For RM300 a night this room that I booked was more expensive than a lot of hotels in the city. The room was smaller than shown in the pictures, however it was equipped with good quality bed, toiletries, robes, safe, beddings, towels, bathroom (no tub).
There's a verandah/balcony attached to my room that gave me views of the Melaka river. All in all, the place was lovely except the tiny room and price.
Just a note for the elderly: most places like this and nearby Jonker Street have narrow stairs, and no lifts. Request for rooms at lower levels if available. :)

Stayed for a night on 21st Dec 2013 with a small group of friends. Room was clean and well maintained. Hotel is located on a street next to Jonker Street so it is really convenient to move around the World Heritage site. Was very happy and satisfied. Highly recommended.

Due to the peak session of the December 2013 school holidays, luckily we managed to get 4 deluxe hotel rooms. As this is the our first time staying at Boutique Hotel, we were quite impressed with the decoration of the hotel, spacious room and customer services (with welcome drinks upon arrival). Simple breakfast was also provided during the stay, but don't expect the food to be similar as the hotel with star ranking. According to the staff, Gingerflower was newly opened in last December 2012.

As for the location, it is conveniently located near Jonker street with lot of eateries and 15 mins walk to major shopping centre like Dataran Pahlawan Mega Hall (lastest landmark in Melaka) and Makhota Parade.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there in our next trip.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Despite the old heritage building, the interior of this hotel is modern and fresh. Would definitely come back again, the staff were helpful, honest and friendly.

Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy, just the simple Malaysian breakfast (Toast bread with kaya/butter, half boiled egg/ yogurt/ coffee/ Nasi lemak/Nyonya Kuih)

Overall, very happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the lower floor or the ones near the back, there is a door bell in the front and back of the hotel.
