It is a very small boutique hotel suitable for short stay only. Located near the river and walking distance to Jonker Street. There is open air car park situated just down the street. The hotel provides basic toiletries. Has a mix of modern and antiquated interior and furnishing. Quite interesting. The size of a superior room is approx. 13 sq. m. and deluxe is approx. 16+ sq. m. which means there is limited space in the room. Bed is comfortable and cozy. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast is acceptable. Worth visiting.

Room Tip: If you have large sized baggage check in to a bigger room

We wanted to stay somewhere more central in Melaka and had previously always stayed at the Equatorial which is further out. The Gingerflower is located very centrally - one street back from Jonker Street right in the centre of town. Once plus point is there is parking available - it is quite limited - only 2-3 spaces at the back, but think in a pinch you could always park at the Casa Del Rio carpark (which is only about RM 5 for the whole day with a security guard). The rooms are nicely decorated with rain shower and marble bathrooms. Bit on the small side and windows overlook the courtyard - we booked a deluxe room, but as we stayed for only a night perfectly adequate. The only issue is there is no plug located near a mirror so you have to dry your hair standing on the bed where the mirror is located. But the beds are pretty comfy, but aircon could have been cooler. The service is ok - bit laid back but fine. Breakfast was decent - there was a simple nasi lemak (think coconut rice with sambal and quarter of a boiled egg), they also offer soft boiled eggs, toast as well as nespresso coffee. Overall good location and for the price (S$100) decent value.

Room Tip: the upstairs rooms in the middle are very quiet.

Nicely renovated hotel, rooms are comfy, bright, clean and bathrooms are included in every room.

Building is nice and brightened by sunlight and has lots of sitting corners decorated with regional plants. Breakfast was good and the stuff is friendly.

The Gingerflower is one street back from the bustling Jonkers Street area and very near the river. The historic attractions are on the otherside of the riverbank, making evrything we needed within walking distance. We upgraded to the room upstairs with balcony before arrival, having seen the photo on their facebook page. It was worth it for the river view and extra space but it was occasionally a little noisy at night. The bed was a little hard but we were happy with that. The breakfast is included, which is handy, and overall the Gingerflower is very good value for money. It is a converted older building (Chinese style) which makes it interesting and welcoming. It does also mean there are windows facing inwards into what would have been a courtyard. I would stay again.

Room Tip: There is only one room that has a balcony and river view.

It is a neat and well renovated hotel with some local Peranakan flavour and located on the next street from Jonker street. It was a peaceful location amidst the buzz. It is also within walking distance to all the tourists spots, e.g. Christ Church, Red Square, museums and the big shopping malls like Mahkota and Dataran Palawan.

The room we were given were above the reception so we could hear the staff chatters and breakfast preparation as the breakfast was spread at the reception area too. However, for the price paid, the breakfast selection was a good one and wth nice Nespresso coffee machine for indulgence.

The room was very clean except for strands of hair on the bed runner that was used as decor for the bed. size is just right for 2 of us and well equipped with satellite TV programme and toiletries. Wifi in the room was also well connected for checking emails and chats but not for movie streaming.

Would return again but would ask for a room that is further into the house although I'm not too light a sleeper.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not close to reception and further into the house.
