the hotel is right next to a main street crossing, which is noisy especially during the night.
the rooms are big and clean.
it is about a 15-20 minute walk away from "jonker walk". but it has an own parking lot which is handy if you are travelling with your own car.
breakfast serves: toast, fresh fruit, cereal, rice, noodles, eggs, etc.
all in all the hotel is great value for money, the hotels in the old town close to "jonker walk" cost easily double the price, therefore I recommend staying there.

We booked this accommodation having read various reviews and I was disappointed as it did not live up to the reviews. The location is on a major intersection and has some side roads next to it. We we had to endure young kids drag racing until 3am on Sat night/Sun morning, I had earplugs and I still had a terrible nights sleep as was spoken up by revving engines and shouting, complete nightmare. The location is definitely a 20 minute walk to Jonker Street, I would recommend somewhere more central if you don't have a car and need to walk. Breakfast was basic, the western food was two cereals, fruit (which was lovely) and toast, the asian food was congealed noodles, etc
overall disappointing.

Swan Garden is new, clean and comfortable. Although not quite " at the door step" to the main tourist area but it is logistically close enough ( 15 - 20 min walk away)
The reception staff were friendly, well spoken and fairly efficient. However their local knowledge could be improved on ( information regarding bus routes, estimation of taxi fares, recommendations of local restaurants etc. Was a bit hit or miss as opposed to being factual)
The room that was allocated to me ,which I believe it to be a deluxe was very commodious and comfortable. On first impression the room appears clean however on closer inspection it was
obvious that housekeeping services need to improve on their standards by paying more attention to detail. To explain ,surfaces not commonly made use of (e.g. The shelf above the bar ,the
lower shelf of the bedside table) had an obvious layer of dust. In addition to this the drainage of
water after having a shower was slow and on investigation I found that the reason for this was
that the drainage outlet was clogged with hair. NOT pleasant!!!!
I did not have a meal at the hotel however there were a variety of eateries close by. There was also a convenience store(7/11) located close by.
For those who are wheel chair dependent, this hotel provides good access not only where the room are concerned but also in the general public areas.
Generally this hotel was a fair priced hotel offering a comfortable stay and is located at a fairly good logistic.
Incidentally wheelchair access to the main tourist area from the hotel via road is fairly accessible but please note that access within the city is not good and could be dangerous due to the narrow
roads and motor vehicle traffic.
An additional bit of information, for those coming from Melaka Sentral ( central bus station) hop
on board bus no. 17 . This bus passes by the hotel this will save you having to walk across town
to get to the hotel.

Room Tip: My stay spanned two nights, Thursday and Friday. Swan garden is located at a corner of a traffic jun...

Travelled with some friends over the weekend for fun to Melaka and stayed here for one night. We typically stay at the Holiday Inn or Jonkers Boutique Hotel. A friend suggested we give this place a try as it was new. Believe it opened in early 2013.

Pros :
(1) The rooms were clean
Again I think this is the most basic requirement of any hotel. No issues here. Refer to attached room photos.

(2) Ample Parking
There is ample parking at the hotel. The parking is not exclusive to the hotel or part of the hotel compound but is for the cluster of building where the hotel is located. But we did not have any issues finding a lot and it is free

(3) Rates were reasonable
The room rates started at about RM170++ before taxes. We paid about SGD$80 per room for the night. Which is lower than the Holiday Inn or Jonkers Boutique Hotel

Cons :
(1) Horrible Wi-Fi
In this day and age, decent Wi-Fi is important. The signal strength in the 3 rooms we had in our party was rubbish. You could only detect the signal at the door and no where else in the room. Reception's only solution was to latch on to the strongest signal which still meant standing at the door to even get a signal. Only the lobby had decent Wi-Fi strength

(2) Location.
Refer to the photo attached titled "Melaka Central in the Distance". This shot was taken from the lift waiting area on the 7th floor. The tall buildings and Ferris wheel in the distance is where Jonkers Street and a lot of the major shopping centres like Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan approximately is. It is easily a 20 minutes walk to get there or to Jonkers Street. & bear in mind that the road in front of the hotel Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz if you simply walk down it towards the tall buildings in the distance, it will not take you there, as the road when it goes across the Sungai Melaka is a tall bridge that is not pedestrian friendly.

Rough Around the Edges - Areas Where They Could Do Better
(1) Limted International TV Channels
The TV had a total of 11 channels. 7 were local channels. They could do a better job providing a slightly wider variety. With the only international channels being the BBC, Fox Movie, NGC and Star Sports.

(2) House Keeping
Was more amused than it was inconvenient, maybe it was a crowded weekend. House keeping came with the face towers about 45mins after we checked in. They apologized that the face towels had not been laundered in time just now when they first did up the room. Guess could do with a bit better timing and execution of the housekeeping aspect.

Conclusion :
Very very unlikely to come back here again when there are so many better hotels around. As mentioned we typically stay in the Holiday Inn or Jonkers Boutique Hotel. Or the Hotel Equatorial . Many better options

The bath tub which was the reason we booked this hotel was large as expected. There is also a separate shower stall and two sinks. The bathroom is definitely the highlight of the room. The tiles and sinks were in line with the baba nyonya themed room we received.

We booked the Garden Suite - ironically, there is not a garden in sight for as far as we can see.

There was a loose tile in our bathroom, under the bath tub - when lightly touched, it swings open unveiling the area under the bath tub, dark and grimy. If it wasn't for the tile being too small for a ordinary person to crawl through and hide under the tub, I would have been hysterical. As it was, I was a little disturbed.

It's pretty close to the seaside and the city center is just a short drive away.

The breakfast was okay - the rendang chicken is good.

Room Tip: Room on higher floor should have better view.

New, clean& simple hotel.. Worth the value. Big parking spaces with rows of shops nearby. It's a brand new boutique hotel in Melaka town, there will be gym& pool soon. There's no spa& massage service in hotel, but there's Thai massage next to the hotel with reasonable price.

We decided to try out boutique hotels in Malacca & this came to our attention. We book 4 rooms and are delighted to been given the Nyonya rooms. The rooms were cleaned and spacious enough to accommodate 2 adults + 2 kids (just need to get an extra mattress). Staff was friendly, effective and helpful as well.

Next to it, there's a thai massage parlor (totally heavenly) and Donald & Lily nyonya restaurant (cendol & mee siam was absolutely delicious). It might a slight drive to town but its worth the $$ we paid. Will definitely recommend and book this hotel on my next stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on Level 5 & above. Less noise from traffic
