Stayed here for about a week. The guesthouse has a nice bright and airy atmosphere in the communal areas. Double ac room was small but absolutely fine, bed large and comfortable.
Tea/coffee and water is provided all day. Standard toast and jam breakfast.

One downside was there is too few toilets/showers but we didn't have to wait long to use them.

They let us use the washing machine to do our own laundry, which was great!

Overall very decent and friendly and close enough to all the tourist hotspots.

An all round good hostel and good value at RM17 per bed in the dorm.
The room itself is nice as it's not bunks and there is a lot of light. We didn't find the noise too bad - only on Saturday night there was a bit of base.

There's a cute lounge and hang out area with lots of movies and good tv channels. Breakfast is basic - tea, coffee, toast, jam. But, there is a proper kitchen and fridge so you can by other items to jazz it up - we got fruit and yogurt from the supermarket down the road.

The staff are helpful, although they don't seem to be around all the time.
Location is perfect. Within walking distance to most things.

We arrived very late (around 10pm) in Plaza Mahkota and we missed the night market and also, it was really scary that time of the night so we just opted to sleep to prepare for the next morning. It has a very homey common area with cable TV at sofas. WiFi signal is weak in our room upstairs so we had to go down to the common area to have a better WiFi access. I agree with the other reviews that they should have a better sound-proof rooms. For people like us who travel as a group, we cannot help but be a bit noisy while talking to each other. A typical group laugh can be heard all the way 2 floors below. All in all, Lavender Guesthouse is recommended for budget travellers. Nothing to fancy.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my friend. It was nice guesthouse, but really need serious improvement on sound-proof. Can feel it was only a thin board between 2 rooms, and we need to talk very softly in order not to disturb our neighbors.
Anyway, it is a very strategic place, as it nearby to every single hot-spot place in Malacca. Only 5 min walk can reach to 2 major shopping mall - Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan. and 10 min walk to St Paul Church, and another 10 more min to Jonker Street. Besides, friendly and very informative receptionist too

The place is cheap and yet is accessible to everything/ walking distance . The private rooms are comfortable . What i really loved about is was the staff was friendly , in fact DEE (staff) gave us a treat on the Archery arcade and on the street karaoke (with the other guests on the hostel ). Even the owner was also very friendly. We felt so at home ;D

We stayed two nights in Lavender on 9 and 10 february.
The room is basic and ok, the location is good and the common area with free movies to watch is cool.
But the receptionist wasn't that friendly. First he tried to give us a fan room but we booked an aircon room through Agoda.
Other people who arrived after us also got other rooms than they ordered.
At most times he wasn't there and people and incoming guests had to wait..
I don't think he's the owner but he was the reason why our stay there was just ok and not very good.

We travel for 4 month now. This guesthouse is one of the best we had so far.

Everithing was good. Cheap (35 breakfast inc), clean, nice room, comfortable matrass, nice, helpfull and well english speaking staff (Sam and Dee), usefull kitchen for self cookers and fridge to have fresh morning milk :).

Close to everything and very good night market on weekends (city packed so book ahead or come on friday). If you like you can duel the staff at the pool table bar(in the shopping mall).

Just best value in town.

Quentin and Celine.

Room Tip: room n 2 is small but very nice, lots of light and cosy.
