“Quaint boutique hotel”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

We stayed in this boutique hotel for 1 night for a quick weekend getaway since its just a short 1 hour plus trip down to Malacca from KL. The staff are very attentive to your needs and we are very satisfied with the room we stayed in. They provide tea & some Nyonya kuihs to welcome us to our room. The room was furnished in old Malaya style with a 4 poster bed & a clawed-ceramic bath tub attached, so the room are more suitable for couple staying in instead. The location is very convenient, less than 10 minutes drive away from Jonker Street or around 20 minutes walking distance from Jonker. Our room rate comes inclusive of breakfast. Breakfast was at 2nd floor of the main building. We are allowed to order our mains from a set menu ie. omelette with sausage + ham, waffles with jam + cream, French toast with butterscotch banana etc. Aside from that there were an array of breads, pastries, fruits, cereal and yogurt as buffet spread to choose from. This hotel are perfect for a romantic getaway for 2 days/ 3 days in Malacca.

After 2 1/2 weeks holidaying in Malaysia, we all agree Majestic had been the hotel we most enjoyed of them all.
We love boutique hotels with character and this one ticked all the boxes on our book.
Before booking I hesitated between Majestic and Casa del Rio. After my 3 nights in Majestic, I am sure this was the right choice.
The hotel has preserved the beauty of the original building. Rooms have been furnished with all the necessary modern specs to make your stay comfortable while keeping the classy deco in line with the rest of the hotel.
The two factors that made me grant the 5* "perfect" Vs 4* complimentary rating were:
- quality of service by all, no exception, employees. Faultless in all aspects
- attention to detail: the complimentary kuih (nyonya cakes) offered every day in the room at no charge was a great detail which allowed my family discover this wonderful element of local cuisine.
Breakfast was also excellent.
I would not doubt a second if I had to visit again Malaca. Majestic is no best choice.
As continuous improvement (but in no way this spoilt my stay) I would suggest management to consider to enhance wifi at hotel so that guests can enjoy this service at the rooms.

This is a great old style hotel that has been tastefully modernised. The room was very comfortable with good space and furnishings. The bathroom was part of the room but could be easily closed off with shutter type doors. The tea was very substantial and breakfast was more than adequate. Overall it was a very pleasant night's stay. The only minor drawback is that it is a little removed from tourist areas and walking around from the hotel is a little awkward as the sidewalks are somewhat inadequate particularly as some buildings in the vicinity are boarded up. But it does seem that the area is beginning to go through a renewal process.

We recently stayed in the majestic malacca for 3 nights on the first part of our 4 part honeymoon trip.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for you. We had no complaints there!

Unfortunately for us, we found malacca to be quite a strange place which seems to be very much in transition. It looked like there is some form of investment being pumped into the area given the construction of high rise buildings with multinational companies occupying them. However on the flip side of the are large under developed areas sitting side by side, so it seems quite strange. Although malacca is a UNESCO world heritage site, we found the area to have little "activities" or things to do and felt that 2 nights stay would be the maximum amount of time needed to spend here.

Had it not been for the travel agent recommending we go to malacca, i doubt we would have ever chosen here as a place to visit and sadly I don't think we will be back.

Not strictly colonial since it is a former Chinese mansion but the beautiful rooms with dragon footed bath, marble and dark wood perfectly recaptures early twentieth century style.
Well located a fifteen minute walk along the river from the bustle of the tourist centre, good restaurant with local interpretations of classic dishes, a superb spa and very friendly and effective staff we were completely happy to have chosen the Majestic for a birthday weekend.

Impeccable service from all hotel staff -- reception, to bar counter, to restaurant, to random staff members we meet in the corridors.

Enjoyed the breakfast (semi buffet and cooked food selection included in the breakfast). I especially liked the nasi lemak and porridge. I thought it'll be good if the breakfast buffet offered a selection of vegetables cos that was lacking.

We had to walk a bit to get to Jonker street and the museums. It was a pity that Malacca was really hot and slightly shrouded in haze on the weekend that we were that, so that definitely marred the walking experience.
