The Majestic Malacca

A classy boutique hotel, wonderful service and bringing charm to an otherwise touristy and commercialized town. 3 girls looking for a relaxing weekend getaway from Singapore found ourselves in great hands at the Majestic. From the soothing lychee tea as welcome drink to our spa treatments, intro to activities around the hotel, all done with perfection and professionalism. We also signed up for a cooking course which was fun, interactive and a good way to spend a hot summer's afternoon after a taxi tour around Melaka. Everything obviously came at a price but I thought it was well worth it given that we felt that everyone tried their best to make us feel at home, well pampered but were not overly invasive. Food was delicious too!

Only complaint was that I could hear my neighbor take a bath in the morning and if people spoke in the corridor, that could be heard in the room as well...

But overall a nice treat and I wish Melaka was closer to Singapore so that I could stay there all the time!

We (2 adults and 3 children aged 13 and under) stayed at this beautiful hotel at the end of March. The Majestic is truly a special place...the staff were wonderful and genuinely friendly and helpful. Our interconnecting rooms were gorgeous and the turndown service was a delight, it was lovely returning to our room in the evening and finding orchids on our pillows, relaxing jazz music playing and tasty sweet treats. The kids loved this!

We went on the free walking tour which was very interesting and I also enjoyed a cooking lesson with my two youngest kids. Hanif the chef was excellent. The pool was perfect too, the kids really enjoyed their swims and so did I.

We have very fond memories of our time at the Majestic and would love to return one day. Melaka is a fascinating place and this hotel is a gem, our favourite hotel in Malaysia .

My wife and I , plus two friends, stayed at this small, luxury hotel in February. After the hustle and bustle of Malacca, a great city to visit, the calm and attentive service in the Majestic was really welcome. We ate twice in the hotel restaurant and can really recommend it for service, variety and quality of the food.

Beautiful colonial style historic building on river front and at the back is modern style multi-story building with modern facilities including an open air swimming pool and spa. Easy walk to the river front and the local China town. Very friendly and helpful staff.

My second trip back to Malacca not as a student, but as someone that can afford some of the luxuries of life. I took great care in choosing the Majestic, it was a back packers in my day, and has now been beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The staff were terrific during the day, helpful, polite without being obsequious, they knew the area well, and were always ready with friendly advice, and umbrellas !. The restaurant however takes a lot to be desired, breakfast was the typical buffet, fine - except for the really dangerous domestic toaster, where you are encouraged to put knife in and fiddle with the toast releasing the slice ..um! If I’d felt more generous I would have rushed out and bought another ! Booking an evening meal was a mistake ... the wine list was extensive with reds and whites from all over the world ... but none were in stock, no red wine at any price, only Rose, the food was ho hum, cold and not cheap. Then there was the waiter, patronising and quite threatening in his attitude. The hotel was really let down by this, extremely disappointing, I hope they take heed. We will go back, because I’m sure management will fix the restaurant. Highly recommend the tour with Miss Choo – she’s terrific on so many levels, her generosity made our few days!

At the end of hectic 10 day business trip I joined a friend in KL and we had one night in Malacca. Malacca itself is a great city, with lots to do and see. But the highlight of my weekend was being in the Majestic, from the warm and helpful greeting, the escort to the room and delicious lychee tea, the excellent spa and facial (how relaxing and perfect was that -amazing), the well appointed and beautiful room, the fabulous breakfast with dishes cooked to order (can't remember last having that kind of waited service in a hotel, instead of the usual "buffet".), and every single member of staff from the F&B manager, reception, room attendant and door guys were wonderful. Happy? Relaxed? Pampered? Charmed? Having been in 4 hotels in the previous 10 days across 3 countries- the Majestic shone brightly. Go go go. And see for yourself. Service far outshone that at the new Majestic in KL. They could teach them a thing or two.... :)
