The morning we The Majestic left was thundery with heavy rain and still, had we been able, we would have loved to have stayed longer.
The Majestic is very grand. Driving along the typically 'interesting' Malacca road, leaves you unprepared for arriving at The Majestic and straight away you know you have made the right choice.
The welcome was wonderful indeed after a long drive down from the Cameron Highlands. Friendly smiles, cold towels and a welcome drink, escorted to comfy seats while everything was taken care of effortlessly. The welcome Tea, brought to the room is wonderful. All staff are very helpful and whilst this is a sign of professional training, it also feels natural and not at all effected.
We loved our room. The ensuite is wonderfully designed with floor to ceiling sliding shuttered doors on two sides. Closing them for privacy it looks great, leaving them open opens up the space and shows off the lovely roll top bath. The chaise lounge in front of the large windows was the place to lay, sip whisky and plan the next adventure.
Do not miss the (complimentary) hotel guided tour of Melacca. 5pm and 10am (I think) and very worthwhile particularly for the Malacca newbie.
The hotel sits very close to the canal that runs down to toward China town and the bustling centre of Malacca. It is a very pleasant walk and meanders casually down to many of the attractions in the town centre. There is also the option of catching a boat down the river and this too is just a short level walk from The Majestic.
A hotel is always more than the sum of great rooms or good food or friendly service. Can it create that feeling. The Majestic - yes yes yes.
