We stayed here over Chinese New Year. The hotel itself is in a perfect position within walking distance of the river and all the attractions around Jonker Street. Because of this some rooms overlooking the street may be noisy. It is quaint and quirky-full of interesting artefacts, pictures and a fascinating history room which gives a brief history of the hotel ( originally a private home) and of Melaka.
Our room on the third floor was spacious but basic and looking a bit worn: chair seats were fraying, and not the cleanest room we've ever stayed in. However for the time we actually spent there it wasn't a huge issue. The room had air-conditioning which we definitely needed.
There is no elevator and you have to carry your own bags to the rooms so pack light.
Breakfast was a mix of Western and Asian food and served in the outdoor courtyard, again it was fairly basic but adequate.
The hotel has an in house spa- the deep tissue relaxation massage complete with ginger tea, was excellent.
Overall, not really a luxury hotel but a wonderful cool oasis in the bustling centre of Melaka.More
