We stayed here a couple nights during a short trip to Melaka and found it utterly charming and full of relics of Peranakan living at its height. The room was climate-controlled and clean and provided bottled water and a large safe for valuables. The rooms are small compared to a standard room, but cozy and just the right size for a short stay. Also, the location of the hotel put it within walking distance of attractions such as Jonker street, the river, and restaurants.

The garden cafe was beautiful and served a great breakfast buffet with both local and Western options, including omelettes made to order. Be sure to ask for a Thai tea so you can watch the barista pour it!

Finding this place can be a bit tricky, so keep your eyes peeled for the sign. Parking is provided in a secure, gated lot behind the hotel.

Hotel Puri was a bit pricey, but you'd expect to pay that kind of money for a well-maintained and well-located (less than 5 minutes walk to Jonker Street) Peranakan house. The room size (and the beds) was smaller than standard hotel rooms but provided the necessary amenities e.g. toilettries, towels, coffee & tea, bedroom slippers. The best thing about Hotel Puri would have to be its garden cafe which is perfect for an afternoon snack. Thumbs up for the mini museum/heritage room that provides a sampler of Melaka's history - good education value for guests. Recommended!

we had a pleasant night's stay in Hotel Puri, the service was helpful from the time of reservation til check in. Its really quaint and most importantly CLEAN. the good aircond system in the lobby area and their little history museum brought relief to the intense heat. also, since its located in a small alley road, where traffic is heavy and parking spaces limited, the car pack down the street is a blessing!

most importantly the hotel is clean and has the necessary amenities for a short stay, especially since ur more likely to be out of the room most of time. the courtyard is a lovely place for morning breakfast.

minor points for improvement ; breakfast finished quickly and took awhile to refill, slow service slightly, tv reception bad and aircond was making noise in our room making it quite hard to sleep at night.

Room Tip: dont choose higher floors if u have heavy luggage as its all stairs! but otherwise its good if u wan...

Was in Melaka on 13th Sept 2013. Manage to book one deluxe double room. Was impress with the hotel and the room was clean. The staff name Neezan was very helpful and friendly to show us a beautiful houses with garden but the most surprising thing was the breakfast, simple but good. Unfortunately we could not extend another night as the hotel was fully booked for the second day. But I don't blame the hotel, we decided last minute to extend another day. Will definitely stay at Hotel Puri Melaka again.

Amazing place. Very close to Jonker street and all the highlights of the city.

Lovely mini museum and beautifull courtyard.

The breakfast in another nice courtyard is very good; plenty of variety. Staff were friendly and and willing to walk the extra mile.

Rooms are clean and bathrooms provide several amenities.

No elevator available, but friendly staff helped us to take the suitcases upstairs.

Really a nice place to stay!

Overall Hotel Puri in Malacca is very good even when you take the standard room. Room is large, clean and quiet. Breakfast is very good.
Hotel Puri has become very popular (and rightly so because in the heart of the historical part of the city) and the common premises are great heritage. Standard rooms are built in a new extension, lean and clean however lacking a bit in character.
If you visit in a quieter season than we did, you may prefer hotels in the same street or on the river banks (i.e. smaller but with more heritage rooms).
Having said that Puri Hotel is very good value and service is very efficient.
